[This letter is written hastily and is a little messy. It is sent shortly after Palitutu's letter.]

Everyone-

Don't listen to Palitutu! If we meet her on the plains she'll just attack us with the Ultima weapon. I know because I saw it. If you have illusionist and time mage you can use them to see things in the future. Please believe me. We can't trust her!

[ This letter comes in a purple envelope, sealed with the crest of the royal family of Aqures Ixen. Even though every Hero receives it, it seems each letter is unique and wasn't sent at once to everyone. ]

Greetings, the name's Cid and I used to run most of this kingdom and the Magitek Research Facility years ago. To all of those who helped me last month, you have my thanks (even though you didn't really come for me, I just got lucky to be in your path and then you needed my ship to flee anyway). More importantly, you are a bunch of complete idiots. There's nothing wrong with that, the vast majority of this world is made of idiots, but don't confuse stupidity for bravery. What you did was the former and not the later. If you want to save the world, you'll need a healthy mixture of both.

With that out of the way, I know the Queen better than anyone and if she's said you're the Heroes of Light, that's proof enough for me. Wedge's told me about the little crystallization problem we're facing and it's my understanding you guys have no idea what to do. I'll be frank, if you're expecting Biggs and Wedge to give you any indications as to what to do, we're all doomed. What I'm saying is that once you're done reading this letter, you should get off your asses and start thinking about what to do. And if you've already tried, obviously you're doing something wrong so try again.

This doesn't mean we can't help. I've got an Airship here, the Enterprise and she can reach the Continent of Ruins. You'll need her more than I, so I'm giving you free use of the ship. If you're to save this world, you'll need an airship that can stand against Imperial Warships and take you where you need. The problem is that the ship was damaged during the escape and won't be able to fly again for at least a couple months, maybe more. That's where you come in. I've got engineers from Esdham working on the ship but that's not gonna be enough, at this rate we'll still be there next year.

If any of you have any knowledge or even otherworldly technology to share that would speed up the Enterprise's repair, of if you just want to work on repairing her, reply to that letter and lemme know.

– Cid of Roalie

PS: There is a Mognet Strike in the making. These damn Moogles are never happy, so don't expect much in the way of replies.

Can anyone offer advice for caring for a sick child, kupo? Prompt response appreciated.

~Rose

[This hastily scrawled note was actually written by Ib's moogle, Rose. Ib started feeling ill not long after she returned from the empire and Rose is somewhat at a loss. Ib has told her that it's not that bad and she doesn't want to go to the hospital because everyone will worry but she's not getting any better either. When Rose signed up for the whole assist a hero of light job, nobody said anything about caring for sick children. Possibly chicken soup is involved. And a heating pad? Or maybe cold compress? Yeah, she has no idea.

When/if Kaji returns to the house, Rose will approach him for help directly.]

Hey,

I've been checking out the area around the Crystal of Fire and in the hospital.  I didn't see any of the people who showed up in crystal stasis at the beginning of the month.  I'm not really sure what it means.  I have some guesses, but I don't want to make them out loud before I know more.  But there's nothing to worry about right now... I think.

[At some point during the day, Chiaki can be seen walking out of the area set aside for professional Triple Triad games in Aqures Ixen, carrying a large bag with the letter 'G' written on the side.  The very familiar jingle-jangle of a big stack of fat loot can be heard coming from within.]

Dear Brave Heroes of Light,

I have only recently returned but I have alarming news. It appears that some heroes have gone missing or were killed in our last fight. I do understand that it is inevitable during times of war but I am hoping to account for everyone's whereabouts. If you could please replay with what you remember from the experience. If you wish to speak with me I will be spending time in the observatory.

Thank you for your time and efforts.

You are all wonderful heroes.

How many of you are familiar with Occam's Razor and the falsifiability criterion of the scientific method?  I've been thinking about it lately, especially in relation to this place.  I know some of you might not know what it is, so I'll explain it.

Occam's Razor is a problem-solving principle that states that among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.  Other, more complicated solutions may eventually prove correct, but in the absence of certainty, the fewer assumptions are made, the better.  In other words, the simplest explanation to a question is usually right.

When I first got here, I had an idea of how it happened and why.  It relates to the technology level where I come from, and I'll spare most of the details, but I've experienced something like this before.  Sort of.  It's called virtual reality, and it lets you experience a different world - a simulation - as if you were really there, all from the safety of your own room.  I thought that was probably what was going on for everyone, but after talking to a few of you, I'm not so sure.  But there's a problem with that too.

The explanation I keep coming back to is that we were all brought here from different worlds by way of magic.  The problem with that explanation is - from my perspective - that it involves at least two assumptions that I'm being asked to accept right away.  The first is the existence of multiple universes.  The second is the existence of magic.  And actually, there's a third one too: that magic is capable of moving people between those universes.

So if this really is an alternate world, it's totally possible that magic really does exist here.  In fact, that would be the simplest conclusion in that case.  But this is where the falsifiability criterion comes in.  I have no real way of proving whether this place is real or not, and by extension no way of proving if magic exists either.  If it does, then alternate worlds and magic are simply natural laws and not assumptions to be made.

In other words, what I'm trying to say is I'm not sure what to think.  Without hard evidence to support either viewpoint, it's hard to reach a solid conclusion.  So instead, I thought I'd try something my friends and I used to do at home.  We would basically just have long arguments where everyone would yell at each other, but let's call them Nonstop Debates instead.  It sounds a little better.

So, fellow Heroes of Light, tell me: how do I know we were really all brought here by magic from different worlds and that we're not all just in the same simulation together?

Good Evening Brave Hero's,

Our current situation is grim but it is best that we work together. Besides, We might be stuck here for awhile and I think it is good to plan for as many scenarios as we can, even if we don't like them.

So, I am throwing a dinner gathering.

Everyone can come over and meet each other as well as share information or find someone you might be looking for. This world is a big place and we will survive better together. And maybe find our way back home.

I am planning to make plenty of food for all. If you have any questions please let me know.

It will be at my house, which is A-16. It will be held in seven days from today! I do hope to see you all there!

Zelda ~

I wish to make up for the confusion that happened the other day. I had been thinking about the situation and I thought to meet you so we could talk and clear the air. I'll bring you dinner.

I was interested in hearing your thoughts on this matter of our displacement but we both lost track along the way. I'll come to you this time.

[ This letter comes in a purple envelope, sealed with the crest of the royal family of Aqures Ixen. ]

Greetings.

I am one of the Queen's advisers in charge of this city in her absence. I trust the Moogles explained the situation to you. "Heroes of Light," or so do the legends say. I have no doubt this is hard to believe, and of course, many people over here don't believe it either. The Queen did believe it though, and accurately predicted your arrival. I don't think this is a mere coincidence. Needless to say, the population of this city isn't supposed to be aware about any of this. Now, given how "talkative" some people at the castle are and how flashy some of you tend to be (from what I heard), I would expect weird glares and murmurs to be a thing in the weeks to come.

With these formalities taken care of, I imagine you have a lot of questions. If you do, please reply to this letter with your question and we shall do our best to answer them. Keep in mind, we have no idea how you came here and we know very little regarding the Heroes of Light beyond broad facts.

• If you have questions regarding the Crystals, Jobs, magic and science in a general manner, please address them to Jessie. She is our specialist here when it comes to Crystals and Magitek. According to the legends, Heroes of Light possess the powers to switch between Jobs. So if you need a new Job, she's the person you should pester.

• If you have questions regarding the military side of things, the political status of our world and things like that, you should address the questions to Biggs. He's the chief of our armies. Be warned he's not convinced you are 'Heroes of Light' (he's even less convinced you do actually come from other worlds), so don't expect his replies to be the epitome of elegance.

• If you have questions regarding Mognet, please address your inquiries to Artemicion, the director of Mognet.

• Finally, if you've got something to ask about the legends, history or this city, then your question is best addressed to me. Speaking of which, if ever you want to move into another house or something, address you request to your Moogles and they'll transmit it to me.

If you don't know who to address your question to, then we'll do our best to answer it anyway. Whether you choose to help our world or try to find a way back to your world, the Queen asked us to help you, and this is what we shall do. We're working on getting you Chocobos at the moment but it may take some time.

Sincerely;
— Wedge

P.S.
If your moogle did, in fact, not explain the situation to you,
we're cutting down their salary by 20% for the next two months.
