Everyone:

Now that all the celebrations and whatnot are out of the way, we can return to focusing on the saving the world business. From the looks of it, there's not much time until the entire world is overtaken by the Calamity. That means we have to come up with a strategy now.

I spoke to Biggs last week, and he mentioned an upcoming meeting with world leaders on the 25th to discuss what our plans to save this and other worlds will be. Not that all of you have to go to that one, but I'd rather our group be prepared and have a solid opinion to bring.

Therefore, I suggest we bring back the old tradition of holding a meeting in the Old Observatory this month, possibly on the 13th. There's been a lot we've discovered the past few months, and if there's something that must be shared with the group, bring it there. And if you're a new arrival, all the better as your questions will be answered there.

I expect to see everyone there. Even if you'll be in another city without a return flight, remember that I do have a personal airship. There's no time to be lazy when the fate of the world's in danger.

Oh, and if you're the sort to cook or set up the meeting room, please please please respond.

[Ales kind of wishes he knew how to host a large group. He's no Zelda.]

This might be our last chance to get together before the final stretch.

It feels like there’s Christmas in every world.

Where I’m from, Christmas is the day where you make a wish on the highest star in the sky. If you do that, it’ll come true. That’s part of the legend, anyways. The rest is stupid.

And in the other world I’ve been to, there was something about Father Christmas and some creep named Jesus that everyone worshiped for no reason. That holiday resembled the one here, but things didn’t go well.

So, why is Christmas everywhere, anyways? Doesn't anyone think that's weird?

Happy Starlight to you all!

This month, Naminé and I got a request from one of the Heran kids who wants to make dolls of all the Heroes of Light. It's a really cute idea! So we're going to submit some sketches based on the open files at the lab. We can't access the locked files, though, so if your file is locked and you don't mind having your sketch done, please come see us? It would help a lot!

Secondly, I've been working on my Blue Mage job, and since the Old Man (is it really right to capitalize his name? What IS his name?) at the Monster Arena wants Calamity versions of all the monsters, I figured I might as well go for it. The ones I'll be chasing will be the Sahagin first, and if that goes well enough, I'd like to go after a Dragon too. If you have any sort of healing abilities, that would help a lot, since the key to learning the spell is having it hit you, and then surviving. I can't say I'm looking forward to that part, but if it leads to a strong skill that can help out in the future, let's do it.

There are other monster skills I'm looking to add, so if you're going after any of the other Calamity monsters, I'd be glad to help out. The ones I'm aiming for are the Behemoth, Cactuar, Long Gui, Dragon Zombie, Iron Giant, and Yellow Elemental, but as long as we're not going after a Geezard, I'm on board for whatever you need!

Sincerely,
Rialynn Kollmann

Hello again!

It's December, and Santa Pyrrha is waiting for all of your letters.  I've worked on mastering the Job since last year, so on Christmas Day I can bring you each one present from your worlds.  After the past month of facing our Shadows, I'm sure we could all use something to smile about this holiday season.  I don't know exactly how the magic works, but I do know that I can't make it happen unless I receive a letter for Santa with a holiday wish written on it.  There are a few weeks left, so start thinking about what you'd like and I'll do my best.  And be sure to watch the sky on Christmas Eve for a sleigh pulled by a red chocobo.  That's how you'll know Santa Pyrrha is on her way!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

((OOC: Per the mods, these regains don't have to be asked for via the usual channels - as long as your character writes Pyrrha a letter, what they ask for will show up on Christmas.  It can't be anything larger than a standard suit of Magitek Armor, anything magical will show up de-powered, and small animals are fair game.  Apart from that, go wild.))

[The letter would go to all Heroes of Light, and even some of the non-Heroes like Biggs, and Cid, and Wedge. Once opened it's clearly a light-hearted letter, despite all the skulls and spiraling borders with spider-webs and bats on the page.]

Hello everyone!

My name is Lydia Deetz; I'm originally from Earth, in America, 1990ish if anyone recognizes the place and time. I missed out last year, due to being stuck in Crystal Stasis, and only arrived the February prior to that. I know things have been rough for the Heroes, because of whom we are, the past two Octobers.

But it's my favorite month--because back home, it's the month when Halloween comes! A time to enjoy the spooky and macabre and find the joy in the unusual. We've all had more than enough hardship lately, and I am excited to celebrate my favorite holiday for once! Some of the customs here on Crystallis are similar, but not all of them.

So... Please feel free to write me back, or meet me, if you're curious about Halloween where I'm from. Tell me stories about a similar holiday from where you're from! Also if you meet any ghosts, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me. Or better-yet, come and get me. Back home my best friend is a ghost, so I have some familiarity!

Thank you, and Happy Hauntings!
Spookily yours,
Lydia Deetz.

Fellow Heroes of Light.

In the aftermath of our battle with Palitutu, questions have arisen as to how we will face the Emperor. Some amongst us are following what lead we have on the Calamity, others are trying save what can be saved or find what clues those before left for us. However, Garland's defeat will mean nothing if the Calamity is allowed to devour all worlds.

We have been told countless time victory is impossible, yet evidently this hasn't deterred us-- If anything all attempts to discourage us have only served to renforce our convictions, our belief in an eventual victory. And whilst I do share this belief, time is running short.

But nothing is set in stone. Thus my question: what are your plans to deal with the Calamity?

To my fellow Heroes, and to others who may be able to rend assistance,

I find myself in need of help for something that is beyond my particular skills and I hope to be able to resolve before we find ourselves in want without. As many of you recall, in our efforts to battle the Ultima WEAPON my Job provided airship had taken enough damage that I saw fit to ram it into our foe in the hopes of bringing it down. I was not able to do much about it while we were off in that other realm, but now that we are returned I now seem capable of summoning that wreckage.

I could use any and all assistance in rebuilding my ship, and possibly better outfitting it for future engagements.

Yours,
James Kidd

Hi, everyone.  This is Levy McGarden of Fairy Tail.  As some of you know, I've been spending most of the past month or so working on some enchanted equipment to protect people from Palitutu's ability to disable our Jobs.  We're about two and a half weeks out from the meeting on the Calm Plains, and I've got as many done as I'm going to be able to, thanks to the help of some of the other Alchemists and Crystal Knights among us.  Seriously, guys, thank you so much for the help.  I probably wouldn't have been able to do half as much on my own.

So, since the deadline is coming up, I need to figure out who's going to get these.  I have enough crystals to enchant six suits of armor, and I can custom make them according to your body type and the Jobs you'll be using, with just enough time to deliver them all before the 3rd.  I've discussed this a little with some other people, and I think the best thing to do would be to prioritize people who have Onion Knight maxed out first, since Melodies of Life is the strongest attack we're packing right now.  And then those who have been around longest, and go from there.

Let me know if you think you'd be a good candidate for this, but I'll warn you ahead of time: I do have one condition for handing these out.  If you're going to take this protection, you have to promise me that you're going to do everything in your power to take Palitutu out when we meet her on the Calm Plains.  I think it's reasonable to expect an attack, and I'm not going to give this protection out to anyone who isn't committed to the fight one hundred percent.  It'd be nice if we could talk her down, but I doubt she's going to give us the chance after coming this far.  And If I'm wrong, and it doesn't come down to a fight, at least we can say we were prepared for one.

Whoever volunteers for this, the equipment is yours to keep regardless of the outcome.  It may come in handy in the future, who knows.  And if Palitutu decides she wants to help us after we beat her down, I'm willing to take her on as a member of Fairy Tail to keep an eye on her.  You'd be surprised at how many former enemies of the guild back home have turned out to be our best allies later on.  But don't worry - while Fairy Tail is willing to give anyone a second chance, nobody ever gets a third.  I'll make sure of that myself if I have to.

That's all I've got for now.  It's been an exhausting month for all of us, but we can't give up now.  Let's do our best for the people of this world.

Look, before you throw this away, like I'm sure you guys are willing to do, I want you to read this. I want to tell you guys a story. But, because someone thought writing letters would be better than fancy-schmancy viewscreens, you're gonna have to read it.

Literacy. It's a good thing. Sometimes.

In my world, there's a really great guy, someone people like to look up to all the time. But, we can't because he's short. His name's Logan. We also called him "Wolverine". He's the best at what he did and what he did wasn't really nice. He killed people.

When you have unbreakable ginzu knives between your knuckles, you'd go running around and stabbing people, too.

But, the thing is, he was a pretty awesome guy. He easily walked the line between hero and killer. If he had to use those knives of his, he made sure it was for a good reason. I mean, sure, he'd probably spend a few issues angsting if who he killed was a pretty redhead, but I think everyone would angst if a redhead died. [There's something erased here, can't really make it out. Probably something in bad taste and involving a redhead here.] Either way, the thing is, when push comes to shove, we all have to make big decisions like he made. The guy died doing what he did best: gutting people to save countless others.

I know we're all bummed out over the death of that Zelda chick and Biggsy-boy chewing us out because we decided to stay PG, but in the end, there are times were we have to make these hard decisions and if killing someone to save countless others is that, then we do it. Like Leonard Nimoy said "The Needs of The Many Outweigh the Needs of the Few." Until the next movie, where they smash that to bits. Even heroes in my world who hate to kill will do so. Like the time Captain America beheaded a vampire with his Mighty Shield.

Deadpool

Hiya,

I know stuff has sucked lately but the Calamity is still moving and there might be clues being stolen each day. There are so many fronts to fight on.

[BP would deliver this, and it's not a 'heavy' package so much as its bulky. Inside, Ales will find sized for him, a strange hat in a black with silvery-sheen to it fabric, and a matching folded up cloak appropriate to his size. Also a magnifying glass and small notebook.]

Dear Ales,

I've heard the rumors about the murders, and that you're investigating. Where I come from, we have stories about the greatest detective of all, Sherlock Holmes. His popular image included these items, albeit in a brown tweed pattern. I figured you'd look better in black, and hopefully they can help you channel some of his investigative prowess.

Stay safe,
Lydia

Fellow Heroes of Light.

I have have been studying what's happened before my arrival, in the hopes to find anything that could help us against Palitutu. While doing so, I stumbled upon an intriguing detail. She was only able to take control of Ultima Weapon because some Heroes of Light equipped with "Hacker" helped her subdue the Weapon.

I am no expert but wouldn't it be possible for Hackers to use their skills to try and disrupt the Weapon's systems? I cannot imagine she would allow you to hack it. But should you be able to weaken the attacks, delay them or fool the sensors of this terrible machine, this could prove to be vital in our upcoming fight with Palitutu. In particular those of you who helped her, should you still be awake, may be able to counter her.

Dear Friends,

I have many items of interest to cover, so I apologize for the length of this letter. First of all, the evacuation of Nabila went better than expected. To the five of you who dedicated your time and energy to assisting the refugees, I thank you, and the Nabilans thank you as well. Prajapati, should you receive this, we are grateful for the loan of your airships. Anyone who was willing to leave was able to do so. Unfortunately, there were a greater number than anticipated who could not be convinced. May the gods grant them rest.

Previously I had mentioned forming an expedition to the Mythril Mines. This coincides with Wedge's request to retrieve pure mythril and crystals to prepare us for whatever confrontation Palitutu intends to have with us. Tentatively we should leave sooner rather than later, so I suggest we begin tomorrow, June 7th. We should have plenty of time to gather supplies and assemble up north. Though this particular quest was assigned to Ales, Santa, and Miss Alice, others who exhibited interest are more than welcome. I will be bringing my specialty "toy bag" that will allow us to carry a great deal more than usual, so we should have plenty of ore to satisfy Wedge.

Lastly, I will be assuming responsibility for the Hero Training facility here in Aqures Ixen. I understand a very strong warrior was formerly in charge before slipping into crystal stasis. I hope I can preserve her legacy. I am primarily trained with the sword in matters of combat, but I would be happy to offer any other combat training as requested. Please contact me whenever you wish for a session. Civilians are welcome to train with us as well, if the desire is present. Knowledge of defense and combat is rarely unnecessary, particularly in a world such as this. If you would like to participate as an instructor, please notify me, and I will ensure that you are enrolled in the staff.

Your Ally,
Chrom

To: All Heroes of Light,

Having just returned from an extensive rotation at Esdham I felt it important to inform you all of the latest developments in the Republic -while there are many details that I'm bound by my occupation not to disclose there is, after all, more general information that might prove suitable to our cause as Heroes of Light.

Since the loss of the Heran capital, Esdham has it's attention between monitoring the situation in Nabilia as the Calamity draws closer to the city and also providing some security to Continent of Ruin since the deactivation of the barrier. Given the substantial losses incurred as a result of the Ultima Weapon, it's no small exaggeration that manpower is stretched just about as thin as it can be; hence even my own extended duty away after the last fortnight. The situation is hindered further by an overarching concern for the future within the citizenry at Esdham itself. After all, the Calamity will be on our doorstep once it expands outside of Heran territory.

I'm pleased to report that the military can now provide a Airship service to-from the Mysidian Tower, subject to authorization by any military personnel. Varaha has since dispatched a contingent to further secure the location, but I suspect there is still a great deal that could be learned, not least from the simulation at its apex.

Lastly, I would appreciate anyone that might be inclined to bring me up to speed with goings-on in Aqures as of late. Spencer has informed me of a VHS-video that I should take the time to watch and would invite the company of those more informed of it to join me in watching, in case there are questions that might already have been answered since.

~Sephiroth

[Additional P.S. specifically for Jade, Zelda, Ales, Kidd, Vincent & Cloud only; also is enclosed a copy of Sephiroth's official report regarding the expedition to the Mysidian Tower, including a translation of the majority of the Ancient-written journal he found.]
P.S: I felt it prudent to inform, yet not draw too much attention to the fact that I'm now in possession of a Sapphire Crystal, of the kind that may be used to protect a specific area from the Calamity. I'd appreciate if it this knowledge could well be kept between ourselves until such a time that it becomes clear of where it should be applied.

[P.S. #2 for Terra only]
P.S #2: I'm truly sorry for the overdue, and mostly unexplained absence that my duties have caused in this instance. I hope that you're alright and will be home for when you get in tonight. I've no plans now for the next few days as well so if there is anything you'd like to do, you need just ask.

[ooc: Feel free to take any thread into Action from here, concerning accompanying Sephiroth in watching the video or even welcome him back in another location!]

Characters who signed-up for the Another Side, Another Story event are free to use this post to their heart's content in order to post on Mognet. They can also reply to new posts made by in-game characters. To use Mognet, they will have to go to the nearest Mognet Office to send or receive new letters, or in the case of Mysidia they will have to seek out the Moogles working on the Enterprise.

Any top-level comments on this post will count as a Mognet Post, which can be addressed to all Heroes of Light or only to certain characters: make sure to mention it in the Subject line! While only characters who signed-up for the event can post new top levels, already in-game characters are free to reply to these top-levels.

Mognet letters can be received in a matter of mere minutes for characters who send their letters from the same city. If characters are in different cities however, it might take hours for them to get a letter and send back a reply. It's not a traditional network, so conversations might be delayed and take time. If your character cannot read or write, the Moogles can read and write letters for them.

Have fun!

Heroes of Light (and the Moogles presumably reading this even if they shouldn’t);

Upon laying your eyes on this, I can only guess you’re wondering just who is wasting your time with yet another piece of paper you'll end up throwing into the bin. Am I a cowardly Hero of Light who’s been hiding ever since he arrived and is only now driven to socialize out of fear to starve? Nah, not really. Maybe I am a recently elected representative of the government out for your gil? That would be a logical assumption but you would be wrong (though, watch out for taxes anyway). Or am I someone relevant to your interests and who will further your search for answers?

Couldn't be more wrong. Last month some of you busted into Garland’s prison and freed me (it seems being patriotic was considered to be a crime, imperials laws are in dire need of revisions). I followed you to this city and ever since then I'm enjoying freedom for what it is. What's not to like here, really, besides the sensation up in the air that the world is on the verge of ending. I took some fresh air and time for myself after having spent something like twenty years rotting down there, but it’s time for introductions.

My name is Narasimha, but I’m sure you’ll find a quantity of better names to call me. "That new guy" at first, "the other idiot" if you didn't like this letter or "the grumpy dude from the prison" to make things simple. And I guess more innovative ones once we'll know each other better. I’d like to repay you for everything you’ve done, but the Empire kind of sold everything I possessed before getting imprisoned. But heh, I guess Heroes like you probably don’t care for money anyway so I’ll find something better to repay you with. It might take some time, but I’m sure I’ll find something good.

I’m still catching up on the years I’ve lost, and I hope to be able to meet you all soon. Heroes of Light! If I had been told I’d be saved by that, I would have laughed it off. But you have my thanks. You’ve been helping a lot of people I hear. Keep up the good work, millions are rooting for you.

- Narasimha
