Well, this is it. Pretty soon we're going into the final dungeon to face the last boss. Before we go, though, I have some questions for everyone. It's okay if you don't want to answer me directly, but the answers are important.

What kind of a world do you hope for?

What are the things you want to protect?

Who are the people you'll always stand beside, no matter what?

Who are the ones you'd give anything to save, or to see again?

Everyone is bound to have a different answer, and that's okay. But those answers are the things we should keep in our heads and our hearts when we go to fight Garland and face the Calamity. We were all given the title of Hero of Light when we arrived here, but now we get to prove it's a title we deserve. We've faced so many impossible situations and hopeless battles to get to where we are now, and every time we've proven that it's only the end of you give up all hope. So whatever your answers are - hold onto that hope, remember what's truly important to you, and trust in each other. We can do this. Together.

[Mognet - sent to all Heroes of Light]

Now that we've got some time to plan again, I think it's time we thought about trying to get into the Temple of the Heroes of Light.  It's a place we haven't explored yet, and all indications are that we need four fully mastered Onion Knights to break the seal and enter the temple.  I mastered my tenth job a few months ago, and by this point there have to be at least three others with enough XP to have done the same.  Does anyone want to plan a trip there before we lose it to the Calamity?  There's probably something important or powerful inside, like another keystone to open the Floating Ruins, a legendary weapon, or a powerful Eidolon.  That's the kind of location where stuff like that is always hidden.  Anyway, if you've mastered Onion Knight and are interested in taking a look, let me know and we can plan a trip there.

[Action - Triple Triad]

[After a short trip to Trano Golsaucia at the beginning of the month, Chiaki comes back with an unfamiliar face in tow.  At least, unfamiliar to most.  The only people who have likely seen this person before are the ones who witnessed the actions of one Chihiro Fujisaki in the previous cycle, or people Chiaki has shown a certain custom made Triple Triad card.  All the same, throughout the month the two of them can be found playing Triple Triad together, talking like they've been friends all their lives.  And each time, Chiaki gives a soft smile and a wave before heading off.]

[Action - Palitutu's Laboratory]

[Anyone who's seen Chiaki with Chihiro's doppelganger may be surprised at a similar sight in Palitutu's Lab.  There's a new AI guide installed on the computers there to help with research and archiving, and it looks exactly like Chiaki's friend from the Triple Triad tournaments.  The two of them can similarly be found talking casually together after the day's work is done, though this particular AI seems to have a different name - Alter Ego.]

[Action - streets of Aqures Ixen]

Here, Missile.

[Between her other jobs, Chiaki can be found out in the streets of the city walking a large spectral three-headed dog.  In any other setting this would probably be a cause for alarm, considering its great size and snarling maw, but Chiaki seems to have matters well in hand.  The great ghostly beast certainly gives off a threatening aura, but for Chiaki it's like a big puppy.  It wags its tail and gives a loud excited bark at the sound of its name, excitedly bounding toward her and knocking her to the ground, all three heads licking at her face.]

Missile, that tickles...!

Everyone,

I know we've just gotten back and are in something of a tired state, but we still have things to do. Crystallis and the multiverse can't save itself, y'know.

That being said, we need to get back to working on the Lunar Gate. Yes, I understand that it's crystallized by this point, but seeing as we can use the Tower's programming, I think there's a crystal that can reverse it. And I am more than certain that we have enough gear from our worlds to finally get that place up and working. We need to find that specific crystal to get everything up and running.

Everyone's counting on us. Not just here, but all the worlds we've visited. We need to prove Palitutu and Artemicion wrong in that all worlds can be saved.

Faithfully yours,

To My Friends and Allies,

This is just a reminder that the training school is always open to those who wish to take combat lessons and train against others. You can be a beginner or a veteran, as classes are designed for people with multiple experience levels. The class I teach deals specifically with swordsmanship, but I've done my best to hire instructors well-versed in multiple weapons and abilities.

That being said, with the continued encroachment of the Calamity, I may be required to assist other cities with evacuation, as well as offering my services as they are needed to the people of this world. Should you have need of me, you have but to ask. I will not be charging any kind of fee for my help, so do not fear if you believe money is an issue.

Monday I would like to venture out and obtain a chocobo. The last attempt did not yield any fruitful results, I'm afraid, but now that I'm attempting to master the job of a Chocobo Knight, it's not a task I can put off any longer. If you wish to accompany me and seek a chocobo of your own, I would welcome your presence.

May the light you hold continue to shine for the rest of our days. Godspeed.

Signed,
Chrom

ADDENDUM

Dear Heroes,

We have received a reply from the Tarutarus of Trano Golsaucia. They are asking for our help to save their region from the Calamity, and I can see no reason why we should not give it to them. As far as I have been made aware, their city is in the most danger at the moment, and it has been estimated that they have perhaps a month left.

Should any of you still hold a Sapphire Crystal in your possession, I humbly ask that it be used for this purpose. I should also mention that they did offer a monetary reward, but I don't know if it would be right to accept as it may cause others to believe that we prioritized their salvation for the sake of greed.

Sincerely,
Chrom

[Jack and Chiaki have accidentally fallen into the bad habit of sending each other things over Mognet when it might be easier to talk in person. Thus, when Mognet glitches, this gets copied to all the Heroes of Light.]

What I saw in that last vision, or whatever it was we saw? Owen told me a few things. First, we need to keep remembering that the crystalization wave isn't the problem. The crystalization, if anything, is holding back the Calamity. Owen described it like an immune response. Think about it, when somebody's sick, inflammation, temperature rising? Those are the body's way of fighting back, trying to kill the infection, even though those are the most visible symptoms.

Second, apparently in that cycle, the Heroes focused their efforts on Garland. Stopped him, killed him, so there was no one to push the reset button, start this all over again. The Calamity had covered the planet, and then ended. The Calamity will stop once all life that belongs on this planet is devoured. It was just them, Owen, a few other scattered Heroes of Light, left alive on a dead planet. But the Calamity had stopped. It didn't devour the Heroes' home worlds.

Still. I know a guy who made that exact decision, who sacrificed one planet to save all others? And it haunted him. So. No. I'm gonna find a way to save both this planet and everybody's, how about you?

Everyone,

I know this is really late, but I've been sick for the past two weeks, so I couldn't think of doing this earlier, but I spoke with the old man at the Monster Arena, and he says that he'll give us some crystals in exchange for a Hamster. They were important-looking crystals, so I wondered why something so small meant so much to him.

Then he explained that they're really, really strong.

The Calamity is going to cover the entire world soon if we don't do something. If anything, getting one of those crystals would give us a lot more time to explore our options. Even if fighting a cute animal doesn't sound that dangerous, it's better safe than sorry. We'll need to work together to fight one of this things.

Whoever wants to help, please respond to this letter. Thanks.

Hiya,

It's been awhile but I wanted to announce that I have mastered all ten of the jobs in my crystal. Sadly, that seems to be where the cap is. It's still pretty cool though.

The good news? I'm even more awesome!

The bad news? None!

Anyway, I want to test out some of these combination things and see how much I can really do. So I'm up for adventures or questions about my awesomeness. If these adventures involve crystals that's even better! Hit me up! I have a few places in mind. More so before the Calamity does it's Calamity thing and you know...

To Everybody,

So it looks like a lot of people are going monster hunting to help make everybody else feel a lot better. Well... I've never faced off against one myself, but Cactuars can be nasty little buggers. Here's what I know from my classes back at Garden:

(before you all ask, Garden is a military style academy that trains mercenaries. So no, I'm not particularly well-versed in botany.)

[To the side of her notes, Selphie draws a picture of Cactuar.]

1. They're quick little shit heads so they're super hard to hit and I think you can slow them down with grey magic (magic that affects your status)
2. They're also pretty tough.
3. They're likely to run away if cornered.
4. Beware of their 1000 Needle Attack. Unless you enjoy looking like a living, breathing porcupine. I've only ever seen videos of it but it looks pretty lethal.

Don't ask me how you're gonna get that sap though. Like I said, I've never seen one before much less fought one so don't take everything I say as fact! Regardless, make sure you have a healer with you in case you get whacked by those needles. Be careful!!!

I'm taking a ship to Aqures Tosf. I intend to see what happened, if possible, after we were forced to flee that place. Anyone else is welcome to join me if they wish, but I will not wait to accommodate schedules. The boat leaves the harbor on April 17th, and will return to pick us up on the 21st.

Dear Heroes of Light,

Cid asked The Adventurer and me to put together a list of magic spells to make it easier to choose your jobs based on these abilities. I should state first of all that we didn't always have an exact way to measure which spells were stronger than others (such as Fire Breath or Flamethrower), so some of it is just an estimate. We sorted the list into three categories: spells against a single target, spells against multiple targets, and energy-based physical attacks. Each list is sorted by the element involved: Fire and Ice are opposing elements, as are Thunder and Water, Earth and Wind, and Light and Dark.

Some of you already know this, so bear with us. The list is mostly for those (like me) who don't really deal with a lot of magic back home.

Lists of MAAAAAAAAAAAGIC )

If you have any corrections, please let us know. I'll make sure to edit the records accordingly. Thanks for your help!

Hey everyone~! ♪

This is everyone’s favorite, the super cute superchef Anise writing you today ♥. And I’m writing because I really need everyone’s help!

Since Fai and Yuna fell into stasis at the end of last month, Cuppa Kupo is really understaffed. I found a couple of moogles to help with cleaning and keeping up the shop, but it’s too much to for someone as cute and fragile as me to handle alone!

I’m looking for more part-time workers, probably around three or four people, but we can take more, too! We have spots open for both cooks and waitstaff, and the pay is flexible~! Plus, you can make really good money on tips. And, you get to work with an adorable staff of moogles (and me). What’s not to love? ♥

I know that everyone’s really busy with their other jobs and hero work, but it’d be really cool if you could help out! I think it would mean a lot if Fai and Yuna woke up from stasis and saw the cafe doing really well.

Everyone who’s interested in helping, please let me know.

Love, Anise. ♥

[This letter comes elegantly written in beautiful cursive, obviously the sort of thing scribed by someone who writes a great deal.]

I have a philosophical question for many of you, if you would not mind indulging me with a little personal information. I understand many of you could be considered selfless, perhaps even altruistic. Have you ever sacrificed yourself for the sake of someone or something else, or made the attempt? What drove you to do this? Is it an instinct for you, or was it something you chose after thinking it over?

Of course, if you wouldn't consider yourself to be the selfless type, I'd like to know if there was ever something that caused you to reconsider your priorities.

If you wish to know why I ask, I don't mind telling you. But I would prefer to hear your answer first.

[Between one thing and another, K'pandolu thinks it's about time they gathered as much information as they can. After all, if the Sage isn't about to give them anything… maybe one or another of the others brought here has noticed something.

There’s a little part of her that thinks she shouldn’t be too obvious about it, so she adds a few more questions to her list just in case. It’s not- hiding what she’s after, exactly. Just putting it in a field of other options. Who answers what, and how… that’ll reveal something, too.]

To All Heroes:

In the interests of seeing what knowledge we can put together to find a solution to the puzzles of this world, I would like to pose a few questions.

First- to my knowledge, some of our own worlds have undergone catastrophic disasters. Has anyone seen a disaster like this one? Alternatively, what kinds of troubles have befallen your own worlds, if any? [the second is mostly to assuage her own curiosity, but – perhaps in that there may be some commonality that’s drawn them here. She won’t know without asking.]

Regardless of your answer to the first- what do you make of this Calamity? A wall of advancing crystals, that might envelope the world… It sounds incredible, doesn’t it? In fact- does it seem similar to anything else to any of you?

To those of you who shared the vision of the future, I would ask one more thing. The Imperial City of Hera changed – did any of you find a way there? Do you, perhaps, recall any other places that were changed so?

Thank you for your time. With all of our efforts bound together, I hope we will be able to forge a bright future for all of us.

Hey guys!

This is Bartz. I've been doing a whole lot of thinking about that vision we had. And that other vision we had. And also the time we went back to the past. And I think I've finally got it all figured out.

[Okay you can all stop reading now.]

They were all trying to tell me the same thing. All we have to do is find Garland and beat him up. But here's the thing. We can't bring any traitors along when we do. Because that's what always went wrong those other times.

So who wants to go with me? I figure about four people should be enough.  I mean we'll have to train and have a plan and stuff but the sooner we start the better.

Hello...

Some of you know me, but for those who don't, my name is Sheena Fujibayashi, and I have a favor to ask. I know, in light of the last few weeks, the timing for a favor might be off, but I don't think I should put it off any longer.

[ She hadn't seen the Rheaird in the vision of the future--maybe because she hadn't taken this step. So a little change may help. ]

For those who live near Residence B-02, you've probably noticed a strange-looking, purple, bird-like machine. It's a Rheaird from my homeworld that had appeared one morning. The only problem is, it can't run without the power of Volt, so I was hoping to find a scientist or someone who might be able to help me work out a way using Crystallis' power sources to get it working.

It's small, but when working, it can fly very long distances under normal conditions. I'm hoping to be able to get it that way again.

Thanks,

Sheena Fujibayashi

[ What follows is a private message to her housemates. ]

To: Residents of B-02:

My apologies for the strange machine in the yard for so long. I'm working on getting it out of there under its own power.

Hey.

I know it's been a pretty busy couple of weeks, but if anyone wants to relax and play some games, I'm around.  I can teach you how to play Triple Triad, or a real time strategy game, or we can play the dance game in the basement of my house together.  Games are relaxing and fun, and a good way to make friends.  We could all use a little relaxation right about now, probably.

...I'll be here in B-03 if anyone's interested.

-Chiaki Nanami

[She's feeling a little lonely and ever so slightly touch-starved since the event, as hard as that might be to believe for anyone who's been around long enough to remember what Chiaki was like when she first came here.  Even though it was a dream, she never realized how much she would miss being able to interact physically with people, even if only a little.  So if anyone wants to come play games or just hang out with Chiaki, she'd definitely appreciate it, and probably has actual hugs in store for those she knows well.  She's waiting in her house for anyone who wants to take her up on it.]

Dear Friends and Heroes,

As exciting as it was to find so many letters in my mailbox this morning, it really broke my heart to see how much the sage's projected dream affected you. I'm sure there are a lot more people out there that were heavily affected too, who just haven't put a pen to paper about it yet.

So, for what it's worth, I don't think less of any one of you. What we saw was based off of what the sage thought we would do if we had a certain degree of knowledge, right? But there are so many other factors that would change a person's behavior than just knowing something, especially if that change in behavior was as severely drastic as it was for some of you. But in the end, it's all just one big fable to warn us of how things could go, it's not a guarantee of what will happen. Tales of caution are nothing new, I could think of at least a hundred I was told growing up about what happens to little girls who forget to blow out the candle, or pick their neighbor's vegetables, or a dozen other ways to ensure I didn't misbehave. When you think about it, this isn't any different.

If you're worried about whether or not I can trust you after this, don't worry. I may not be able to speak for anyone else, but as for myself, I'm proud to know such a kind group of people so dedicated to protecting this world and the people they know. You're the type of people I want to write stories about, because you're inspiring, and brave, and good (even if it's in your own unique way). Sure, maybe a couple of you killed me in that dream, but I can't really take it personally.

Learn from what you saw, but don't dwell on it too much, because it didn't actually happen, and isn't likely to happen either. The future is still your own, and you get to decide your role in the history of this world that's yet to be written. I know you'll all do great things.

Your Friend,
Rialynn K.

Hey, everyone.

I actually finished this about a month ago, and had some in my shop at the Santa Village, but I thought I should probably make an announcement.  I've completed a working prototype for a crystal energy to electricity converter.  I've tested it out, and it works just fine for charging up small devices like cell phones or handheld video game systems.  I still have a bunch left from the shop if anyone wants to buy one.  We can talk about the price.
