Jack to Chiaki - Accidentally sent to all
[Jack and Chiaki have accidentally fallen into the bad habit of sending each other things over Mognet when it might be easier to talk in person. Thus, when Mognet glitches, this gets copied to all the Heroes of Light.]
What I saw in that last vision, or whatever it was we saw? Owen told me a few things. First, we need to keep remembering that the crystalization wave isn't the problem. The crystalization, if anything, is holding back the Calamity. Owen described it like an immune response. Think about it, when somebody's sick, inflammation, temperature rising? Those are the body's way of fighting back, trying to kill the infection, even though those are the most visible symptoms.
Second, apparently in that cycle, the Heroes focused their efforts on Garland. Stopped him, killed him, so there was no one to push the reset button, start this all over again. The Calamity had covered the planet, and then ended. The Calamity will stop once all life that belongs on this planet is devoured. It was just them, Owen, a few other scattered Heroes of Light, left alive on a dead planet. But the Calamity had stopped. It didn't devour the Heroes' home worlds.
Still. I know a guy who made that exact decision, who sacrificed one planet to save all others? And it haunted him. So. No. I'm gonna find a way to save both this planet and everybody's, how about you?
