[Someone doesn't know how to work around the awkward.]

I'm sorry. And, thank you. You're a great friend.

[To Terra]

Can we talk? I promise, I'm not mad. I told you I'd come looking for you when the Conflict was over and I know you don't remember.

But I keep my promises. Please, talk to me.

Thanks.

So I've noticed throughout the past week, ghosts have been popping up more often. There are some though that are are admittedly obnoxious or harmful and dangerous, and yet we can't judge all of them-- Many were people once, don't want to hurt anyone, and need help. Plenty the kind who had regrets and can't move on to rest in peace; but it doesn't have to be that way.

The thing is, we're able, as people who are still alive, to assist in reaching that peace. It's not always an easy task. Some have been content with having someone listen to them, and others have more detailed requests I've had to leave off and wonder about how to go about accomplishing.

But I'd like to ask the other Heroes to once again, as they're inclined, to take that word in our fancy titles and put it to work. There's only so much one person can do, so I'm asking.

You can check out the quest board if you have the time and are interested, I've listed some that I'm not currently working on. I can't offer a solid award in mind (and I think priorities here would be a bit... misplaced given the context) but they themselves are fairly likely to have something to offer you.

Thanks.
And sorry if this comes across as preachy. Basically put: They're good ghosts. Let's do something.

[To Rikku and OU!Yuna:]

I apologize if this letter comes out of the blue, but I need to speak to you regarding those dreams last month. My name is Captain Jack Harkness, but if you don't recognize that name, maybe you'll recognize the name Gwen Cooper.

I was seeing things from her perspective, and I suppose it's only fair to let you know what I know now, because the events of that dream seemed personal to you. I've been meaning to catch up to you for a while now, anyway, so I was wondering if there was a time that we could meet, if there's anything that I can do to help?

-Captain Jack Harkness

[Unfortunately for everyone, Jack doesn't know which Yuna was sharing in his dream, so he sends out one more letter. "No no, this one goes to the blitzball player, okay?"]

Yuna:

Was that you? In the dreams, last month? I've been trying to pin a few people down, harder because I was looking at things through the point of view of a friend of mine, Gwen Cooper. Little less obvious that it was me, but now you should know what I know.

Yunalesca. Who was she? Why was she fighting against us, and why was Gwen so damn determined to save her? Well, okay, I guess I already know the answer to that last bit.

I'm sorry if this brings up any trouble, but I need some answers.

-Jack

I know it might be very short notice but, how do most people feel about hand made gifts? I've been thinking about making a little something for people I know, but I'm not sure how people would feel about something like that?

I mean I've made them already but now I'm a little worried about giving such things out. I hope to hear what everyone else has to say.

How many of you are familiar with Occam's Razor and the falsifiability criterion of the scientific method?  I've been thinking about it lately, especially in relation to this place.  I know some of you might not know what it is, so I'll explain it.

Occam's Razor is a problem-solving principle that states that among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.  Other, more complicated solutions may eventually prove correct, but in the absence of certainty, the fewer assumptions are made, the better.  In other words, the simplest explanation to a question is usually right.

When I first got here, I had an idea of how it happened and why.  It relates to the technology level where I come from, and I'll spare most of the details, but I've experienced something like this before.  Sort of.  It's called virtual reality, and it lets you experience a different world - a simulation - as if you were really there, all from the safety of your own room.  I thought that was probably what was going on for everyone, but after talking to a few of you, I'm not so sure.  But there's a problem with that too.

The explanation I keep coming back to is that we were all brought here from different worlds by way of magic.  The problem with that explanation is - from my perspective - that it involves at least two assumptions that I'm being asked to accept right away.  The first is the existence of multiple universes.  The second is the existence of magic.  And actually, there's a third one too: that magic is capable of moving people between those universes.

So if this really is an alternate world, it's totally possible that magic really does exist here.  In fact, that would be the simplest conclusion in that case.  But this is where the falsifiability criterion comes in.  I have no real way of proving whether this place is real or not, and by extension no way of proving if magic exists either.  If it does, then alternate worlds and magic are simply natural laws and not assumptions to be made.

In other words, what I'm trying to say is I'm not sure what to think.  Without hard evidence to support either viewpoint, it's hard to reach a solid conclusion.  So instead, I thought I'd try something my friends and I used to do at home.  We would basically just have long arguments where everyone would yell at each other, but let's call them Nonstop Debates instead.  It sounds a little better.

So, fellow Heroes of Light, tell me: how do I know we were really all brought here by magic from different worlds and that we're not all just in the same simulation together?

To whom it may concern;

I've just arrived here and am looking for people from my world. I've attached an artist's rendering of each of them with this letter. If you see anyone matching their depictions, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Celes Chere

[Sure enough, along with the letter are a number of drawings. Mogtague, Celes's moogle, claimed that he was a portrait artist, and she approved the sketches without seeing them, trusting his judgment.]

[ he hasn't been paying attention to a lot of things lately because of his sever lack of feeling like he was a part of this mess. however, he did hitch a ride on his roommate's flight and is now shooting off a quick note to all the Heroes because there was a Job for sell that he seriously wanted. like yesterday even. ]

So there's a Job for sale in this place at Aerilon. It costs over a hundred thousand gil which is something none of us probably got separately but I think we can scrape the money together. I've got a little bit [ boosted somewhat by the fact that Sho is very good at not spending money by mooching off of others and the extra boost from that treasure chest. ] but it'll be worth it. I can't be the only gunman in this place that misses their guns, can I?

Oh, and I guess we can try for some of the other stuff too. Maybe we'll get enough for whatever else we're looking for.

TO Heroes of Light currently found in Aqures Ixen.
SENT 16/11/XX

I realize there have been many new additions to the city as of late, so please let me start by introducing myself. My name is Yuna, and like you, I was brought here from an otherworld to serve as a Hero of Light as I'm sure you've also been told.

I know this is short notice, but I am hoping to recruit a travelling party in order to make a trip to the Temple of Water found in the county of Flence, an island to the west of the Continent of Balance. An airship leaves in two days time that will have us there by the 19th of this month, according to the schedule.

As I have never been there myself, I am sorry that I don't know what to expect, but with everything going as it has recently... I don't suppose it will be easy. Physically capable fighters would be most welcome, and if necessary... I can pay you for your trouble.

Please let me know by tomorrow so that I can make preparations.

[ This letter comes in a purple envelope, sealed with the crest of the royal family of Aqures Ixen. There is a small red crystal in the letter, shaped as a Gil. When the characters will take it, the Gil crystal will vanish and their own crystals will shine for a second. There is also a list of different employments, such as doctor or chocobo farm worker, along with explanations on how to apply for these jobs in the envelope. ]

Greetings

First of all, welcome to all the new Heroes of Light. We didn't expect any more arrivals, but we have taken measures should it happen again next month. If it does happen again, we may have a problem, but we'll see about that in due time. Secondly, the Crystal in the envelope is a pretty old Job we've unearthed for you. Merchant-- Nobody here uses this Job any more, but since you can wield two Jobs at once it may come in handy. Besides, it happens to be in relation with the letter's topic.

Contrary to what Biggs has told to some you, you do not need Aqurean nationality to take on our employments. Technically you do, but that's an old law nobody follows any more. So we've prepared a special form for you to apply, should you like. There's a list in the envelope along with the form. Just keep in mind that if you take on a job, you will be treated and paid the same as any regular citizens. That involves paying taxes.

You can also open your own business and we will give you the premises to do so if your idea's good-- If you want to do that, you better write down solid arguments because Biggs' approval is required.

I'd like to say that's all, but there is another thing. There's been a fifth case of Crystal Stasis, two days ago. It's Zojja, she's being kept in the hospital. Jessie agrees with me, if that's happened five times already, it's probably going to happen a sixth time. I'm not here to play the panic card, but if ever you feel somewhat different or if you see something out of the ordinary or anything, please report it to her.

Sincerely;
— Wedge

[ This letter comes in a purple envelope, sealed with the crest of the royal family of Aqures Ixen. ]

Greetings.

I am one of the Queen's advisers in charge of this city in her absence. I trust the Moogles explained the situation to you. "Heroes of Light," or so do the legends say. I have no doubt this is hard to believe, and of course, many people over here don't believe it either. The Queen did believe it though, and accurately predicted your arrival. I don't think this is a mere coincidence. Needless to say, the population of this city isn't supposed to be aware about any of this. Now, given how "talkative" some people at the castle are and how flashy some of you tend to be (from what I heard), I would expect weird glares and murmurs to be a thing in the weeks to come.

With these formalities taken care of, I imagine you have a lot of questions. If you do, please reply to this letter with your question and we shall do our best to answer them. Keep in mind, we have no idea how you came here and we know very little regarding the Heroes of Light beyond broad facts.

• If you have questions regarding the Crystals, Jobs, magic and science in a general manner, please address them to Jessie. She is our specialist here when it comes to Crystals and Magitek. According to the legends, Heroes of Light possess the powers to switch between Jobs. So if you need a new Job, she's the person you should pester.

• If you have questions regarding the military side of things, the political status of our world and things like that, you should address the questions to Biggs. He's the chief of our armies. Be warned he's not convinced you are 'Heroes of Light' (he's even less convinced you do actually come from other worlds), so don't expect his replies to be the epitome of elegance.

• If you have questions regarding Mognet, please address your inquiries to Artemicion, the director of Mognet.

• Finally, if you've got something to ask about the legends, history or this city, then your question is best addressed to me. Speaking of which, if ever you want to move into another house or something, address you request to your Moogles and they'll transmit it to me.

If you don't know who to address your question to, then we'll do our best to answer it anyway. Whether you choose to help our world or try to find a way back to your world, the Queen asked us to help you, and this is what we shall do. We're working on getting you Chocobos at the moment but it may take some time.

Sincerely;
— Wedge

P.S.
If your moogle did, in fact, not explain the situation to you,
we're cutting down their salary by 20% for the next two months.
