[The dictation process is a little harder than it needs to be for Link. He keeps pausing and um-ing and deciding he didn’t like what he said and needing to go back and correct things. All in all his poor moogle is more than a bit confused, and they wind up having to start over. Twice. But eventually Link wraps his head around what he wants to say, how he wants to say it, and makes Marin read it back to him to make sure she got it. Finally satisfied he sends his message out.]


To: Everybody,
Hello, my name is Link. I’ve been told this land is in trouble. Where do I need to go first to help? I’ve been given a sword and a shield and a flute already, so I shouldn't need anything else to get started right now. Thank you.

[For such a short message it took him an awful long time to write. He waits eagerly for replies, getting the hang of his new flute while he waits. It’s such a weird shape.]

[When Marin reads her letter Link jumps up from where he was sitting on the ground. He can't decide whether he's happy or worried that she's here. On the one hand he hadn't seen her in what felt like months and months, but on the other if this world was in trouble she should be as far away as possible. All too soon his anxieties win out.]

Zelda?! Where are you? Are you alright? If you're here too does this mean something happened to Hyrule?

[At that thought a new wave of things to worry about surges up. He had assumed this was an unrelated place, just like Termina, but if Zelda was here too...Maybe they had bigger problems.]

[Oh! She's coming to meet him! He sits back down and folds his legs up to his chest, resting his chin on top of his knees. His reply is delayed slightly as he has to ask Marin about how people normally end their letters. Then he has to agonize about whether or not to return her greeting in kind. Eventually Marin talks him into it, saying that if she's yours, it would be rude not to be hers back, right? Link finally mutters out the last of his dictation and then waits nervously, trying to get rid of his blush before Zelda arrives.]

Yes, I'm right by it. I'll wait for you.

[It wasn't hard to find that bright sunny hair of Links (not to mention the fact that he looked similar to the two he's met.) The dark haired variation, Ravio, was overly zealous when seeing him face to face. This Link was younger than he expected, but he went along with it anyway.]

Greetings, Mr. Hero! The name's Ravio!

[Link sat while he waited, but when Ravio calls out to him and Link sees who he is, he jumps to his feet. He's got his sword in hand in an instant, and his whole body seems to be on high alert. What on earth was Dark Link playing at? Calling himself "Ravio"? Calling Link "Mr. Hero"? He knew that was too silly to be anything other than a joke, an insult.

His jaw sets and his eyes narrow as he faces the older boy, not looking forward to a rematch where he'll be at the disadvantage for size and strength.]

What are you saying? Drop the act!

[So someone was...congratulating him on sending a letter. He asks Marin how he's supposed to respond to that, and she replies by explaining that Mogent allows the Heroes of Light to communicate with one another near instantly! Which is. Not very helpful.

All in all it takes an inordinate amount of time for his reply given how short it is.]
