Letter and a Package?!
[This letter is sent along with a small package on Tuesday evening. What's inside? A Santa hat and a couple of bells, a sprig of pine, and a bundle of mistletoe.]
Season's Greetings!
I am writing to you from the Santa Village. Yuki and I boarded an ocean ship this morning so we could get a look at the village for ourselves. Work has only just begun, so I regret that there isn't much here at the moment, but there is certainly a great deal of promise. I'm certain your Moogle companions have already told you of what they hope the place becomes and how we can help. I would encourage you to do so. Even if there is much work to be completed, the village has an aura of peace and good will. I would like to ask those in charge if we might use it, and expand upon it, as a place of refuge should we be able to evacuate those who are currently threatened by the expansion of the Calamity. I do not know if my suggestion will be taken under consideration, but this is my hope.
In the meantime, I believe I will transfer my belongings here for the month and stay at the inn, possibly a house if I am able as I would like access to a kitchen. As I will be assisting with appearances as 'Mrs. Clause,' I believe the role would be greatly strengthened if I were able to bake seasonal cookies and treats. If you have any recipes, please send them to me. I would be exceptionally grateful, and the sooner I can practice, the quicker I can produce satisfactory results.
Please consider doing what you are able for this cause as well. Knowing what's coming, I believe that spreading joy and peace to the denizens of this world will help to strengthen and unite them. I hope to see you here soon, even if only for a couple of days. Whatever you can contribute would be greatly welcomed.
Sincerely,
~Rukia Kuchiki (Temporary Mrs. Clause)

I'm not sure how sound of a stratagem that might be. I've heard some horror-filled stories of how the Herans celebrate Noel, yet it's impossible to discern if any of them may be true. Even if their customs weren't so extreme we must be careful not to alienate those that might come for refuge.
Currently, I suspect that foresight the Sage granted us hasn't managed to reach the ears of the Emperor. The border remains as barren as it has always been as of late.
We'll have to see what's to come. At least, given my promotion to Colonel I'll be in a less-limited position to deploy personnel for security purpose should the need arise. I'm sure you'll keep me informed should any action of that sort become necessary at the Village.

P.S. Some reds, perhaps. But not of the pillarbox, glittering variety that comes along with most Santa Claus outfits. I'm personally more partial to blues.

Dear Colonel,
Do you know if any attempts have been made to contact the Empire as of yet? I do feel obligated to at least send a warning if no one else has seen fit to do so. I suppose I will do just that, for surely one more response could only serve to add further validity to the warnings of others. Consider it delivered by the time you receive this letter, then.
What do you propose that we do, if our warnings fall on deaf ears? I do not think we have nearly enough airships at our command to evacuate so many, and I worry that ships may be too slow. I am uncertain just how quickly the calamity spreads.
Rest assured that I will notify you at once should any situation arise here that requires your attention.

Dear Rukia,
You'll have to forgive me for having perhaps the least consideration for the Heran Empire. For all the hardship and destruction they have wrecked upon this world even before we arrived to help to oppose them, I'm not so inclined to communicate the same. I would advise extreme caution if you are to send any missives in their direction lest it rekindle their fervor in regards to their bid for world domination. Too many lives and livelihoods have already been utterly destroyed.
With regards to the Calamity, regretfully there is little that can be done other than to watch and wait.
I'll wait to hear from you further, take care in your endeavors.

It's been a few days since I sent my letters, but I have received no reply. Having never encountered or fought against the Empire myself, I know little of the people. I can only hope that they do not share the same violent opinions of their leaders. I find this is usually the case with citizens -- there is always a mix of good and bad. It is the nature of humanity.
Once the Calamity moves, the Empire will surely crumble. They will no longer be our enemies. If that's what it takes to achieve peace, then so be it. Would that things had ended a better way, but it is pointless to regret what could never be.
Nonetheless, I hope the holidays find you well, and that you have a moment to enjoy the peace for what it is.
