To Heroes and Allies (Cid, Biggs, Wedge, etc.)
Dear Friends and Allies,
I know we have difficulty collecting and sharing information, given the number and variety of tasks we are faced with. I thought perhaps we might discuss where things stand, as time seems to be running out far more quickly than initially believed in the Sage's vision. What crystals we have available to us, which regions we are protecting, these are all things we should be well aware of, as well as plans for what to do next.
In addition, a few months go I picked up a key fragment from the owner of the Monster Arena. He does not seem to know of any use for this, but if there are other fragments that the rest of you possess, we might be able to complete the key. (It very well may be just junk, but I have yet to see junk offered as a reward for a difficult monster quest.) I do not know what it is for. The Floating Ruins, maybe? Have we attempted to gain access to this place? It may be worth our while if we can figure out how to unlock it.
In any case, if you have anything unusual in your possession that you think might be of some use, I urge you to tell the others. We may be holding important clues in our hands, and simply be unaware.
Sincerely,
Rukia Kuchiki

The Floating Ruins? It's the first I've heard of such a place.
Would you care to enlighten me?

Never? I first saw it when I was looking at one of the maps of this world. It's located to the east, somewhere over the ocean, though I've never seen it with my own eyes to verify its precise location. It might move, for all I know. I asked about it, and some people with airships had tried to access it before, but found the entrance locked and sealed.
That is all the information I have, unfortunately.

If the fragment you found matches the two we already have, then you would be correct. The key is supposedly a way into "a location in the skies", which would most likely be the Floating Ruins.

Thank you for confirming my assumption. Zelda informed me that she holds a piece as well. Given that she keeps so many records at the observatory, perhaps we should compile all of our pieces there? It would be more than frustrating if a piece holder were to succumb to Crystal Stasis while holding such an important item in his or her pocket.
In addition, I would like to thank you for working on the cure so diligently. It is good to feel energetic and healthy once more.

They are for the Floating Ruins. I have a piece of a key as well. It was left here by Ashelia but ours was found in an expedition into a cave. I believe there is one other but I don’t know who carries it. Nor do I know where the last piece of the key is.
I do think it’s something we should attempt to find, before it might be swallowed by the growing crystal. At first we thought something important to the heroes was lost on the Floating Ruins but the one organizing it had left and I’m afraid the task had been forgotten.
Thank you for bringing this to everyone’s attention.

Thank you for letting me know. There is much I do not know about this place that occurred prior to my arrival. I would like to entrust my piece of the key with you at the observatory for safe keeping, if this would be an acceptable proposal.
As for the last piece, I am not sure where it might be found. I have sent letters to O'aka XXIV and the owner of the Monster Arena to see if they know more about the matter, as well as the crystals we've been able to use at the Mysidian Tower. O'aka in particular is a mystery to me, as I cannot fathom how he manages to lay hold of such interesting and helpful (albeit tremendously expensive) artifacts. It may be worthwhile to question his methods further.
Sincerely,
Rukia

I’d be honored to look after it. I have a safe at the old observatory. Few know about it and even fewer know how to get inside. That’s where I have the key and I’ll happily place the second with it.
That’s a good idea. Most likely he scavenges. Perhaps also the pathways beneath the Crystal Tree in Mysidian? It might be a location worth looking into as well. I don’t know if O’aka or anyone would have any information about it though. Perhaps even just a history on the tree itself.
Thank you.

Make certain that at least two other people know how to access this safe, as we would be in a tight spot should anything happen to you (may this never be so). I've informed Levy of my intentions, she may give her piece to you as well.

There are a few who know how to get in, my moogle, Kopula being one of them. Should something happen to me he's here to assist the heroes and has assured me he'd stay at the old observatory.
I will also inform one other of it's location.
Thank you.

This is satisfactory. I trust Kopula in the matter of secrecy. Enclosed is my key piece for your safekeeping. Be well.

Thank you, I will keep you informed of who knows of the keys and Kopula assures me that he can handle the task. I will also let you know should I receive the third key or any information about the fourth one.

Fairy Tail was hired to investigate Stiltzkin's Castle a while back before the Calamity spread to the southern continent. One of the key fragments was there, and I've been holding onto it since for safekeeping. I'm pretty sure there are four of them total, so we're only missing one now.

Thank you for letting me know. I'm transferring my piece to Zelda for safekeeping, just so that it doesn't become lost should I succumb to crystal stasis. It's an unpredictable condition, so I want to be certain it's not on my person.
I hope you have been well.

That's a good idea. I don't keep the piece I have on me either. I should probably tell the rest of the guild where it's hidden just in case, though.
And yeah, I'm doing pretty well. I'm keeping busy with my studies in Mysidia. You should stop by the guild hall sometime and we can catch up.

I'm satisfied with this. And I will be certain to do so. There is much I need to catch up on.

Sounds good. You know where to find me.

Didn't anybody think to try blowing the door up with a rocket launcher?
~ Selphie
ps: I found a stepstool for us shorties in the house!
no subject
What is a rocket launcher? A device capable of explosive fire, I assume? I don't believe anyone has, nor am I sure this weapon exists in this world, but I suppose one of us could ask Cid to find it for us if it would be a crucial aid.
Thank you for procuring a stepstool. I had taken to simply climbing on the counters, this seems far more suitable.

A rocket launcher is just a way bigger, more powerful gun that packs a super mega punch! If we manage to get one, let's try it out!
I was getting ready to resort to climbing myself because the chairs at the table weren't doing the trick. Or you know... try and sweet talk one of the roomies into getting stuff for me.

I wouldn't mind seeing how a rocket launcher operates. If it's a type of gun, I will likely be unable to use it effectively as none of my Jobs allow me to manage such weapons. Perhaps when I can use Onion Knight.
As for the roommates, I don't think sweet talk is necessary for any of them, save perhaps Yuri if he's in a foul mood. But it might be particularly effective with Raven, I suppose, he does have a soft spot for women.
~Rukia
Selphie used PUPPY DOG EYES on Raven
Onion Knight? There's a knight that protects onions? That sounds really tearful and boring. I'm still working on Red Mage at the moment with... Gambler I think on the side?
I think if Yuri caught us climbing on the counters, he'd have some sarcastic remark ready about us being short anyway. If I absolutely can't reach something, I just might have to resort to that.

Your reaction is quite similar to my own when I first heard of the job. However, it does seem necessary to elevate this particular job, as there was a temple discovered in Mysidia that appears to be locked until four Onion Knights arrive to open it. As such, I am working on maximizing as many of my jobs as I am able. I hope I can do so with the short time we are allotted.
Good luck.

It is my understanding that there is nothing of interest to be found in these floating ruins. From what I have gathered, the previous Heroes of Light explored the location and some amongst us saw their findings. As mysterious as the location might seem, I fear it holds no secrets any more. Do we really have the time to go on such an adventure, when we have more concrete leads and more urgent needs?

Which Heroes do you speak of? I have heard nothing of any previous endeavors, and the doors remain sealed. I am not certain they have been explored. In any case, we cannot pursue the matter any further until the last key piece has been discovered.
Until we know for a certainty that there is nothing there that will aid us against the Calamity, we must pursue every possibility. Do not mistake my intentions for thrill-seeking, as I do not see it as an 'adventure,' but a necessity.
As for urgent needs and concrete leads, I am open to suggestions. You are running a psychologist's office, correct?

Those that came before us of course. Not this cycle, but two thousands years ago. And a little over a year ago, some of our friends had the chance given to them to see what our precursors did. They discovered the existence of the cycle and this knowledge was passed onto us.
I would agree with you, if we had any shred of evidence pointing to something else being there. But evidently, there is no such thing.
