To: All Heroes of Light

Greetings.

It’s been a long time, but I have some things to share. We are investigating what’s happened with the other group of Heroes of Light last week. Unfortunately, we haven’t turned up anything. The healers are at a loss, as are our researchers. The only certainty is that all these heroes of light dying at the same time cannot be a coincidence. Someone or something must have been behind this. They had been just fine for months and died shortly after reaching Mysidia and Aqures Ixen. As it is, we cannot exclude the possibility there is an enemy in this city or Mysidia.

Also, the Moogles working at Palitutu’s Laboratory communicated us a report about the Crystal of Fire. According to them, its energy levels are far below what it was two years ago and they keep dropping, especially when more of you come in. They say at this rate, it’ll be at the same level of energy than the other Crystals in a year, maybe even less. Practically, it means there won’t be any more Heroes of Light coming to Crystallis once this happens. It might also affect your immortality and crystal stasis, but how we don’t know yet.

Jessie, I mean Palitutu, would probably have the answer to all these questions, but we haven’t heard anything from her since the imperial attack last year. The Crystal of Fire running out of energy at the same time the Calamity is expected to have completely crystallized the planet is certainly not a coincidence either. She must have planned for this. You have to prepare yourself not to play into her hand.

If you know anything, please tell us. I’ll inform you as soon as we get any concrete information.

Wedge,

I know it might not be much, but I do remember my sister telling me that a "Kalki" brought her here and that she was trying to stop that "Palitutu" person from killing them.

You think she got to them?

Wedge,

Thank you for the update in this matter and any other information you might be able to provide. From my understanding those in crystal from the new group appear to be safe? Stasis seems like an easy option in comparison.

We do know how to give the Fire Crystal more energy however that isn't an option. Most likely, as the Calamity eats at the world, all the crystals energies will lesson. It seems that everything is connected though we scarcely understand it.

Thank you again and in return I'll let you know if we find anything that might help in your search.

Wedge,

The loss of our comrades is a grievous blow to everyone's morale, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you and your associates are looking into this.

As regarding the loss of energy, it is similar to something that has happened in my homeland regarding Hydaelyn, the Mother Crystal and source of all life on our home planet. I am willing to go into detail, but I must insist on keeping this news from the people of my land thus far. It is for their own protection until I can sort out this little moogle problem I have.

Dear Mr. Wedge,

Is there anything we can do to help you guys? I was with that group of Heroes from the very beginning. I can give you an account of what happened, if that means anything. We ran into a lot of bad situations, but the only enemies who seemed to really have it out for us were the cultists in Downapolis. They summoned monsters to attack us, and a lot of our group didn't make it back to the caves. It's not much to go on, and it might be completely unrelated, but I think there's a good chance they might have had something to do with what happened to everyone.

Please let me know if you need anything from me. And thank you for giving us a place to live. After all those months of running from place to place, it's nice to have a home again.

Sincerely,
Keiko Yukimura

Mr. Wedge,

That's very sweet of you. I think we both need all the help we can get, so I'm glad we're working together. I'll write down what I can remember.

We woke up in a ruined city. Aqures Tosf? I hope that's the right spelling. Kalki was there to welcome us, and told us we were brought here to watch over the crystallized heroes being kept there. I didn't recognize any of them, but some of them were distinctive enough to stick out, and I could swear the non-crystal versions of some of them are here in Aqures Ixen. Anyway, she said our white crystals make us useless to Garland's plans and Paltitutu's, and that they'd let us move over the crystallized lands too. But Palitutu showed up anyway to attack us a month later, along with a Moogle holding a black crystal. Kalki opened up a portal. Not all of us made it through.

We found ourselves in a room with a big colorless crystal inside some kind of research facility that was apparently crystallized? There were a lot of crystallized monsters and people inside, and a few not-so-crystal that attacked us. At some point, a lot of people said they'd lived the same day over and over. I wasn't one of them, so I don't know much about it, but it was weird enough that I thought I should make mention of it just in case.

Eventually we found an entrance to some crystal caves that led to the Tree of Life. We packed some food and left, since supplies couldn't last forever, and we'd heard no word from Kalki. It was a dangerous journey, we faced off against a lot of ghosts, and only a few of us could actually fight them off. But eventually we did find an exit, which led to Downapolis. We thought we were safe there, but I think you know how that turned out.

After we were there for a few weeks, the cultists attacked us in the middle of the night, summoning monsters right in front of us. There were too many, and we were forced to evacuate through the caves again. The doors to the city were closed due to some sort of investigation. They wouldn't tell us what it was about.

It took weeks. We had to fight horrible monsters along the way, something someone called 'Calamity Spawn.' Our numbers continued to dwindle, and if not for some people getting a Santa Claus job, we probably wouldn't have had enough food and water to make it all the way. We found a village in a crystal forest inhabited by people called Shumis and Primal Moogles. They told us that some of the other Heroes had recently been here, and directed us toward Mysidia. We traveled across the Calm Plains, and finally arrived.

The rest you know, I guess. There were so many of us to start with, and now there are so few. I hope that my account helps. If there's anything else I can do, please ask at any time.

Sincerely,
Keiko

Wedge,

She told you guys about the crystallized Heroes, but not about us? Nothing? I can see why you'd advise us not to trust her, that's for sure. We were in a tight spot and could have really used some help.

In any case, don't worry about us too much. We came this far, right? Everyone's been very kind and welcoming. Thanks for your help.

Wedge,

I hope that you'll forgive my late reply,

While delivering a surge of energy to the Crystal of Fire, to the magnitude that Kalki helped to engineer is out of the question, I wonder what you might think of somehow converting other crystals into energy that might be able to help our cardinal crystal remain at a certain base-level?

I'm no such expert, but do believe that the Enterprise once operated on such a system?

Wedge,

Thanks for your reply,

So, essentially although inevitably Palitutu wants to renew the cycle again, resetting the World, she'd rather not kill people? I find that pretty hard to believe.

If you have any working theories, anything you aren't saying -about any of this- please let me know. I'm about done picking through Ancient text for answers.
