[He is about to head to a different terminal to make sure that his file is locked when what she says stops in his tracks. After a year of being forced to exist over and over again, never given the chance to end it like some toy repaired every time he broke. Always waking up in the same pod, unable to move for hours-
He shakes his head.]
... There is no future for me. [Not one he'd want to return to, at any rate.] Either those hero types find a way to save everyone, or everyone dies, and if they do manage to, I was dying anyway.

This is why I didn't want anyone to read my file. Everyone gets so worked up over an end.
[Had he been anywhere else than the Tower before, he probably would have thought of another way to phrase that. He's somehow eerily calm saying it, like he's versed it a thousand times. Maybe even a little annoyed.]
I was dying before they summoned me, so unless I get saved a third time from that fate I doubt it'll happen. [He shrugs.] Till then, I'm living to make sure what happened to my world doesn't happen to any other.

[Her admiration for him has just risen tenfold. He knows he's dying when he returns but he tries anyway... one other person comes to mind at that and she can't help but wonder if there is a way to fix that, like if he could just go to another world. Then it will be fine.]

Anyway, I was gonna ask how to lock a file on this. Haven't really used computers beyond figuring how to lock communications and leave anonymous messages.
