A Knight's Tale

To My Fellow Heroes,

A lot has transpired in the past month, and while some might say it is not a necessity, I am wondering if there might be some of you interested in an idea I have been formulating over the past few weeks. I realize that the government here, as well as the neighboring kingdoms, have some sort of conscripted military force that acts as a defensive shield to the people here.

I want to stress that fighting is never the proper solution, but given recent circumstances I am inclined to think that we stand to be better prepared for such things if we are to be here for some time. My proposition is this: a small militia, a collection of knights and guardians who can be at the call of the city for whenever they are needed. Not just for the heroes, but the fair citizens of Aquares Ixen. It goes without saying that the Crystal of Fire is indeed a very important landmark, and the people who reside here are just as significant and important. If such a team already exists, then please disregard this notice. Otherwise, I implore you to reach out to me so we might organize and see just what can be done to ensure the safety of this land, its people, and its history.

If you've talent with a sword or with magic, any help would be greatly appreciated. Ideally, I would like to keep our numbers somewhat small at first, if only to see just how effective of a group we can be. Patrolling, surveillance, and many other tasks that would help to keep our new home all the more safer, that is the sort of team that I am looking to try and gather.

I am open to any ideas that you might have in regards to such a request, as well as opinions you might be holding to. I eagerly await what replies you might have.

I'm not sure to what extent you are aware that Aqures Ixen already has it's own law enforcement division? Which I believe should be handling a great deal of what you have mentioned - or as far as I understand the role of such a force.

Or did you mean to propose a Heroes-specific militia, to also carry out additional work in tandem to their duties?

I would be interested to lend my skills, however as my military enlistment is placed in Esdham specifically I regret that I'd only be able to assist in a limited capacity. Indeed, so long as Esdham remains the wall holding the Empire back there doesn't seem to be much of a call for an organized force in Aqures itself just yet.

I was looking to try and have a Hero-specific militia, if at all possible. They could very well help in aiding both Esdham and Aquares Ixen if and when the need may arise. Perhaps I'm over-reaching or this might be spreading us too thin, but I'd like to rely less on the establishments here if we can help it.

Zelda is doing so much for the Heroes as a whole. I feel as though I should be doing the same. Unfortunately, diplomacy isn't one of my skills, and is something that she is very able of. All I know is serving people, be it with a sword or a watchful eye.

I would be honored to have you as part of our efforts.

While I appreciate the desire many Heroes might have for complete autonomy, I would remind you that the establishments already in place are there to assist us as well. I don't think that you're over-reaching so much as trying to also present something of value to Heroes as a whole. It's admirable that you would take on such a responsibility yourself.

Should you have need of my sword, you only ever need to call.

You have my hammer. This isn't the first 'call to arms' to defend a greater good. As it stands I'm shit in a real fight but... my hammer was meant for others, not really for bashing skulls.

I'll keep us in good gear, for a fair price of course. It's not profiteering, but I do need money to start importing better quality metals and the like.

It sounds like a great idea and I'm happy to hear that you made it safely through everything that has happened. I don't know what is set up here besides the police and the military but it wouldn't hurt to have us helping out as well.

I've visited the other crystals and your right to say that the crystal and the people here need to be protected. There is something special about the crystals though I can't say what it might be. I don't mean to ramble.

I've skills with many things but since arriving here my jobs are in long range and magic. I hope I can lend assistance and I will be happy to train as well. I already do some training on my own but I find having others who share your goals helps push you forward.

While I work with Law Enforcement, I still think that something like this is a good idea. That way we could help more people and not just have a limit to what one can do. I would offer my help if it was necessary at least, but only on a limited scale due to my work.

I find that right now I have free time. I mean since crimes aren't being committed often, I find I don't patrol as much. But to be ore certain I am always free most evenings at least if that helps?

Looking after Chocobos is very important, or so I am told by Zelda. Though, I cannot turn away those who selflessly look to aide those in need. If you are able to speak in person, I would very much like to meet with you to discuss more on this. I may have a meeting or a gathering of everyone interested, but I might also meet one-on-one with a few select others depending upon their skills.

Your idea sounds like an excellent one, to me at least, and I agree that any extra protection we can offer would be a wise move and an act of goodwill not just to the other Heroes, but to those who live here as well. If you don't mind, I'd really like to hear more about your plans for this small force of people. Will it be open to anyone at all? What about chain of command?

I'm not sure what types of opinions you're looking for, but if it would help you at all, I wouldn't mind sharing my experiences from the knight academy or what I know about the structure of the militia in my hometown.

The invitation is open to all who are willing and able to serve for the greater good of the people and heroes here. For the moment, I haven't really considered a chain of command just yet, least not since I've been able to meet with those looking to help. As for plans.. As of this moment I merely wish to see who all is interested in helping, seeing what particular skills they hold, and what we as a group might be able to do for the country and those that neighbor our borders.

A fellow knight would certainly be a wonderful addition to our ranks! I could honestly use as much guidance as I can. Most of my knowledge is limited to my own experiences at the Knight Academy and how shift tasks and assignments work. Everything else holds to the sword and shield, with some minor skill in staves.

I should be organizing a meeting of those looking to help. If you've any further questions, please feel free to write back to me and I shall do my best to answer accordingly.

You can definitely count me in! Although I have to be honest here - I'm only an honorary knight. Due to complications at home, I dropped out of the academy during my seventh year. But I do know my way around a sword, so there's that at least. And from what I understand, if we manage to pick up different jobs, we can learn how to better use other weapons as well, right?

Also, I'm not sure if there's anything like this already in place or not, but it might not be a bad idea to ask. A friend of mine, Cheria, heads a relief organization back in Ephinea. If we were to run into problems in town, I think it could be beneficial to have a group of healers on hand to treat injuries and provide support.
