[TO : ALL][TO : EDGAR, SABIN]

Hello,

I was curious if someone could bring me up to speed, what is this Christmas holiday exactly? Mogtague tells me that it's about presents (namely presents for him), but after the last time I trusted him with something, I have my doubts.

The decorations are beautiful, but I'm not entirely sure what the point is. Apparently there is someone named Santa Claus, who delivers presents? I still don't think it's possible for someone to do all of that in one night, but I've seen stranger things. Miracles can happen, after all.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you very much.

- Celes

From what I understand, gifts are exchanged during this time of year. I can make a few guesses about what you might like, but it would probably be easier if you told me.

My budget is a bit tight right now, but I will try to do my best to get you both suitable gifts.

Where I'm from, it's a religious holiday, but most people ignore that in favor of gift buying and parties and stuff. Seems like it's like that here, too.

The whole Santa Claus thing is something you tell kids to get them to be good, or he won't bring them gifts. Kind of weird when you think about it.

Hello Celes,

I'm honestly not really sure of the details myself but I know it is also called the Starlight Celebration. I think it gives people light and hope when winter is at it's worse. It might seem silly and some of the stories might sound impossible but that just makes it feel like the magic of the holiday. Like anything could happen if you tried.

It might sound silly but I think that is what it is and what it's for. I'm really enjoying it.

[It's late, he's nothing else to do in the barracks - so why not take the time to reply to a request for information. He can at least give the details that he knows.]

Dear Celes,

It depends on where you are in Crystallis, different regions have different takes on it. Here in Esdham it's referred to as Noel but it's hardly as decorated here as I've heard it is in other places.

If the story is to be believed, Santa Claus was a Hero of Light who took it upon himself to care for the children of the Ancients - who had been left with little or nothing in the wake of the destruction that the Calamity brought about the World. He enlisted the help of the moogles to bring gifts to all of the children, to lift their spirits and such was the start of the Mognet as we know it.

Though, as with all things you hear of Legends - it just seems like the latest in a stream of celebrations that are recognized in this World.

Back home, Christmas is a very romantic night for couples. Santa is more for little kids who are too young for the other stuff.

But my country got the festival from overseas so it might be different in other parts of the world.

Celes,

My guess is none of us even have a budget yet, so you aren't alone in that.

Maybe we could all get together and do something fun instead! Or have a nice dinner somewhere!
