Double Letters
Letter to Santa
Dear Aoi,
Jumpy is doing just fine, and so am I. I know you're prone to worry, so I thought I'd save you some time and just let you know everything is okay. I found someone who's training me to defend myself, and I asked Cid if I could take on a job as a Magitek Knight so I can learn some basic combat techniques. I still think it's best if I keep jobs that let me stay in the back until I'm confident enough in my skills, and a giant suit of battle armor seems like a good way to do that, don't you think?
Speaking of which, could I borrow some money to spend at O'aka's shop? They're having a huge sale on Magitek Armor and puppets for Engineers (that's another Job I want to learn, so I can be better at the laboratory). The best part? They're styled after Moogles! I guess if we're going to be fighting against the forces of evil, we may as well do it looking cute, right? XD
I hope you're doing well. Come over some time, I'll make you dinner!

Dear Squall,
I'm happy to report that I requested the Magitek Knight job! Just in case you were wondering if I went through with it. I did! I'm not sure what I'll be required to do in order to earn it, but I should be ready to start using it in earnest in October.
Let me know when you're rested and ready to start defense training. I don't want to rush you, last month was stressful and exhausting for everybody. I just want you to know that I'm ready and willing to begin when you are. Thank you so much for all of this. I promise, I'm a quick learner. I won't let you down!

Since it's just practice, wear something comfortable that you can move in. Nothing heavy. Once you've got some basics down we can try more in armor.
There are some training rooms in the University we can use.

Great! My mage robes are very comfortable. If I pin up the hem with clothespins, I'm less likely to trip on my face. I think this is an important factor in effective training. :) I'll meet you there. Thank you so much!

You know I'll get you anything that you need. Just make sure to stay far away from the actual fighting. Giant armor sounds good, but don't let anything try to force you onto the front line.
I can deal with Oaka for you if you want. He seems like a sketchy bastard, so we should get along just fine. Hopefully he'll take credit.
I can come over whenever you want. Have you been practicing those recipes we went over? You'll be better than I am in no time!

You really do spoil me sometimes! I guess I shouldn't complain about that, since we were able to live comfortably thanks to you. Don't worry too much about me. I'm definitely better suited to a spot further back, so I can observe the battle more strategically. I met a new friend who's teaching me defense techniques, and once I get the Magitek Knight job, I can learn to defend myself hand-to-hand if I have to.
Let's go to Aerilon together. I've heard it's kind of shady, so it's best if neither of us goes alone. Are you okay with boats? I know we haven't really had great experiences with them in the past, but as far as I know it's the only way to get there.
I have! The potato soup still turns out lumpy every time I try to thicken it. How do you make it stay thick and smooth? I still have a lot to learn!

Ok, we can go together. But I should probably do the talking. You're too nice, and the jerks down in Aerilon might think they can fleece you on principle.
I dunno what you're doing wrong without seeing it. Did you stir in the cream a little at a time? You gotta keep stirring the whole time so it doesn't clump up. Lemme know next time you try it.

That's really nice of you. He's a little quiet and reserved, so I think he doesn't make friends very easily. I'm sure you can coax him out of his shell!

And I did what you instructed, stirring in the cream at the very end so it won't burn, but it still gets really lumpy. Should I use an egg beater to make it smooth, do you think? Feel free to come over any time you like.
