I've spoken to someone about the matter of us not receiving crystals upon our arrival as we were meant to. They informed me that we might not be Heroes of Light in that case. Or that we will have to search for our crystals in order to acquire them. We are our own to find them as they say there is nothing they can do.

I hate to say it, but this news doesn't surprise me. Either the locals we deal with know nothing, or are holding out on us. Too early to say, but I got my suspicions.

I say, if you don't need a crystal, you're probably better off. We don't know what ours are even for, though we were told it was connected to our job classes. Clearly that ain't the case, if you guys have jobs too. Or would you not be able to change them, like the locals here?

In this case I'd say it was a matter of them not cooperating with us. Whether it's because they believe we might not be Heroes of Light or for some other reason, I couldn't say.

As of yet I haven't been able to switch between jobs though I've tried. It's something I was able to do back in my world so it can't be a lack of experience. If these crystals are supposed to be connected to us, I would rather have it with me than in someone else's hands.

Most of the locals just think it's legend. But what folks like Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge? They're the ones I wonder about most.

That's the thing with these 'jobs' here. They kinda reset all your others skills. So something you might have been able to do at home, you can't do here now. I used to be one of the fastest shots on Mars, and now that I'm a Paladin and Warrior, I can't aim my pistols to save my life. Probably literally.

Why them and not anyone else?

I noticed. Before I arrived I had quite a few abilities that I can no longer use. It's strange to not be able to shoot my gunblade. All I can do now is wield it like a sword.

They're the ones that are have been involved with us Heroes. After going inside the Magitek facility, I'm sure something weird is going on that we don't know about. They say they can't control who gets brought here, but I found evidence that someone knows about folks I know back home. There were wax models of them in there. It was pretty freaky.

Did you ask them why there were wax models of people you know?

They said they had no idea. But this Kalki person probably works for the Empire, which is bad news if they know what's going on, and our side doesn't.

Could they have been previous Heroes of Light? Maybe the Empire kept better records than then our side did.

If they were, everyone I know back on Mars is holding out on me. But I really got no idea.

The other thing we know now is the Empire has spies. We fought one while at the facility. So we need to keep on our toes.

Maybe no one remembers when they leave this world. Someone I know is further into the future than me and hasn't said anything about me mentioning this place before.

What exactly was the spy after in the facility?

My guess? There's some pretty high-tech stuff in there. Well, high-tech for this place. Some computers, namely. Ain't seen those anywhere else around here.

It would be the place to go if they're looking for information then. Much easier than sneaking into a place with books or scrolls. If I was a spy, that's where I'd go first.
