Backdated Letter to 06-15, the day after the mognet glitch. PRIVATE to Sephiroth
[Just to be safe, these would come directly from Ophelia, rather than through Mognet.]
Sephiroth,
Hopefully this will not go to everyone; given the glitch yesterday, sending through our personal moogles seemed the best option.
Presumably, given your closeness to her, you're aware of Terra's past. Has she told you what we experienced when pulled from our activities and sent through some scenes from our past recently? (Our full group was her, myself, Jade Curtiss, and Dr. Lucrecia Crescent.)

[Sent once a potential 'glitch' is ruled out by Spencer]
That's a rather personal question.
I like to think I know a great deal about Terra's past, though, from what she has trusted in me and from what I learned from our visits to others' memories in the past.
I'm sure that was all fun-and-games, really. I don't like to make a habit of talking about these events unless Terra is comfortable enough to talk about it.
But is there something I should know?

[Because last time, the silent treatment in the wake of his possible!death as given in the vision had cut him to the bone. Still haunted him, more than he's about to admit.]

Sephiroth,
I am hardly going to pry into Terra's past. She is a delightful young lady, whom I am sure you will treat well. You likely know more than I do, even though I have witnessed at least one of her memories.
Simply that we were lead to a series of labs and revisited memories that are traumatic and personal. For example, I was once again reminded of my failure and death. It might be why her nightmares are worse as well.

The entire sequence of events was undoubtedly devised to cause yet more pain and anguish within our ranks. We were lucky that Esdham were still patrolling that far out by the time we were released from the mind-game and left to find our way back.
I'm glad that she had you there, where that same person probably enjoyed ripping me from her side for the duration.
You might not be wrong, though I daresay I would not have returned to work if I had thought the nightmares weren't receding for good. Perhaps I should have stayed just a few more days, but you know what they say about hindsight.
Not to mention a certain evening I wish I could just remove from all reality.

I am not inclined to disagree; there are some who search for evidence that there is a good 'reason' for these mind-games too. I can not claim to have found any myself, although some closure did come about for events that have left too much pain already.
I do not blame you for returning to work. It was likely you knew the cause for why they returned, but if not, I wanted to be certain you were aware.
I respect and like Terra, she is a thoughtful and earnest young lady and I regret the pains she has been through, for her sake. She deserves happiness and peace where she can find it, and if she finds it with you, I hope you know how precious it is.

Undoubtedly. All games, all experiments have a reason; this is something we've both more-than an adequate experience with.
Nightmares can have all sorts of underlying triggers; it might not be the direct cause but regardless it's an indication that some sort of pressure has been applied to ones often-unconscious sense of being. I'd be lying if I denied my concern, every time I have to break leave and return to my duties; even if the majority of the time that concern is just my own reckless paranoia.
I think I'm starting to learn, but as you also know, it's sometimes impossible to quieten inner demons.

Were you able to ascertain the reasoning behind this latest one? Admittedly, I have not paid as much attention to the larger-potential-duty that we have been saddled with, as Heroes of Light. Presumably, these latest adventures were related to that...
I do not doubt your concern. I actually wish you and Terra well, and hope you both are able to find peace with each other.
As well-acquainted as I am with the struggle of dealing with inner demons... I meant what I said to Marshall Nevada. I'll take responsibility.

I think that it goes without saying that it had to have been an Avatar who -for whatever reason the Calamity has- wanted to hurt us by pulling harmful things back into focus where they might have been for the most part forgotten. Or ignored by choice.
I'm not going to ask you to honor that promise. Being as I spent a great deal of my life being someone-elses 'responsibility' even when I thought I had it all in hand myself.

Hurting us might not have been the only goal, as much as it is hard to see a purpose beyond that, given their actions. I can not speculate further than that.
Forgive my choice of poor-wording. To clarify--though I am hardly likely to be your first choice, I will listen if you want to talk, or seek help, or advice. I consider you ally, and would like for you to be the best that you can be, and will aid in that.

Finding the Avatar behind it would be the first step to getting that answer. Narashima is his name; according to what I've heard, a contingent of Heroes of Light freed him from the Imperial prison.
For what it's worth, for as long as we are here in this situation, I'll bear that in mind.
