November 1st

Dear [Insert Your Name Here],

I hope this letter finds you well. If it does, I would appreciate a response at your earliest convenience, just to put my mind at ease regarding your well-being. Alert me at once should you have need of me.

As for myself, I am well, and rested. I wanted to write this before I resumed my duties to assist the civilians in the city. As I am certain I will be called to report to Esdham soon, now that the undead have been laid to rest, it is imperative that I find a chocobo of my own, so that I may travel freely between cities should the opportunity arise.

I plan to embark on a three-day expedition, from November 7th through the 9th, and you are welcome to accompany me during any number of those days. Be certain to bring warm clothes, fresh water, food that will not easily spoil, and a sleeping bag or tent. Until this time, I will likely be found assisting with the responsibilities of cleaning up and healing injuries.

Know that I will think well of you while I reside in Esdham, and I look forward to your letters. Do not hesitate to write should you ever feel the desire. If you wish to visit, you will be warmly welcomed. I will not be far, if you ever have need of me.

P.S. Now that I am not so busily engaged in the capture and detainment of rogue spirits, I would like to make good on our former agreement. Please notify me if you still wish to receive your date, and inform me when you would like to meet. If you have any preferred activities or meals, please notify me prior to our engagement, so that I can plan an appropriate evening.

Oh! Manami would be a good match for you.

[She doesn't know most of the others, but she can understand her feelings regarding Yuri. And she wouldn't approve of anyone who's still hung up on another girl, there's no sense wasting time on someone like that in her humble itty bitty opinion. But of all the others, she remembers Manami's bright and sunny attitude, not to mention the cheerful and friendly letters he wrote. Plus he liked Rukia's art, which gave him big approval points in Rukia's book.]

That's who I would choose for you, based on your list. He can't remain clueless forever.

[She folds her arms and nods sagely.]

Of course, that's all null and void if you have no romantic interest, but if you do, I could see you being happy together.

[Or just downright happy period, Manami's the most upbeat person she's met in a long time.]</small.

[Yuffie fidgets as if she's been caught. She looks up at her friend and then makes a noise that doesn't make sense before burying her face into the throw pillow that's conveniently located right in front of her.]

NOPE! I'm not telling you.

[She's definitely hiding something.]

You're not?

[She just spilled her guts about kissing and romance and her dead mom, but her relation with Manami is confidential? What in the world did they do?]

Why is that?

[Seriously, she does not understand these chaotic boundaries.]

[Yuffie has never once claimed to make sense.

She peeks over at Rukia and the shinigami might notice the slight tint to Yuffie's cheeks before she decides that talking to the pillow is her best option.]

I kissed Manami...

[Her voice is muffled but the confession is there.]

You did?

[And he's still clueless? They might really have their work cut out for them, if that's the case. Rukia blinks, furrowing her brow.]

Oi, just how many people have you kissed in this world?

[And you called Rukia a maneater! For shame.]

[Yuffie has to think about that question. There are a lot of people that she wants to kiss besides there is no harm in kissing someone. She waits until the red from her cheeks ebbs before sitting up. The throw pillow is resting in her lap as she looks up at Rukia.]

Not to many... I accidentally saw Cloud naked in the shower once.

[That really isn't her fault though. It's the rules of snow ball wars.]

That's when I was fifteen.

[She pauses.]

I don't know who've I've kissed...

I have no wish for further details!

[Can they pretend Cloud being naked was never brought up at all? Or anyone else for that matter? Her brain doesn't need anything of that nature.]

How can you say that? Clearly you do, if you just named two of them. Which others?

[Yuffie really doesn't remember. She day dreams about kissing people and there are times that she kisses boys on the cheek just to tease. The only problem is that she knows that they don't take it seriously.]

Should I kiss more people?

[She looks up at Rukia feeling a little confused. What's bad about kissing?]

I haven't kissed Yuri. I don't think.

Er...that's not really for me to say... The courtship customs of the living seem to vary so greatly.

[Kissing seems to be a fairly serious commitment in the Soul Society, at least as far as what she's observed in others, but they've all been dead for decades. Times may have changed.]

Is it truly such a casual gesture now...?

[She had no opinion one way or the other about kissing Yuri. Personally she wouldn't recommend it, but then again, she wonders if his esteem might improve if someone believed he was worth kissing. All she knows is that she, herself, will not be doing the honors. Ever.]

[Yuffie laughs though it isn't at Rukia per-say.]

No it's not casual. Most people get really annoyed or embarrassed.

[Though why Yuffie chooses to do these things is a mystery all together.]

I just like showing people that I like them.

[Rukia furrows her brow in thought. Yes, it does seem like an intimate sort of gesture. Of course, a kiss to the hand or the cheek is somewhat permissible. Her head tips to the side. Hmmmm...]

How often do they return the sentiment?

[Maybe Yuffie could name the people who kissed her, at least. Other than MarKus, that snake.]

And a kiss to the cheek is casual, is it not?

That depends.

[Sorry Rukia, Yuffie doesn't have answers. People don't even normally kiss each other on the cheek unless they are related.]

My mom used to kiss me...

[That's awkward.]

As for people to kiss me back... there is... no one.

I find that difficult to believe.

[She leans back, arms folded yet again. It's her thinking pose.]

Did you give them enough time to kiss you back, or did you run off afterward? Or play it off as a joke?

[Surely one of them might have wanted to return the favor, she's sure.]

[She usually plays it off as a joke, as confident as Yuffie is she's terrified of rejection. It happens more often than not.

She lightly begins to pick at the pillow while looking down at the seems.]

Do you think someone would want to kiss me?

[Her dark eyes look over at Rukia shining as if looking for a glimmer of hope.]

I know that there are very few men who would object to being kissed in general.

[She smirks, but then her expression softens. She knows what Yuffie is asking.]

Yuffie, you're bright, cheerful, and have the capacity to care very deeply for other people. Do not think so poorly of yourself, for you are more than worthy of being loved. Give people a chance to do just that, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

I guess.

[It's still a little hard to believe.]

Have you ever kissed someone?

It will happen.

[She can make that promise with confidence, and a warm smile. As for kissing someone? She blinks, surprised at the question, but seems no harm in answering.]

Not out of romantic intent, but yes, just once, on the cheek. I understand that's a traditional way to end a date, correct?

[She'd asked him what he preferred, and that's what he chose.]

Um... not exactly.

[Yuffie shots up in her seat looking over at Rukia with a curious gaze.]

Who did you kiss?

[It's safe to say that she hadn't kissed D at the end of their date. That'd have been a little weird.]

It isn't?

[She messed it up? But she thought she'd done everything right, or at least, as right as she could be prepared to do.]

Raven. I offered three suggestions as to how to end the date, and that was what he chose. There was also an embrace or a handshake.

[She counts these options on her fingertips.]

From what I read, all three were acceptable means for saying good night.

[Yuffie's lips curl into a smile, her fingers rising in front of her lips.]

[She bounces slightly feeling excited.]

You really gave him those three options and he choose to kiss you! Oh man!

[It's adorable and as jealous as Yuffie is she's also happy for Rukia. Though she'd have to let herself experience a relationship first.]

W-what?! You're jumping to conclusions!!

[On this much, Rukia is absolutely certain.]

We both elected to go on a date knowing fully well that there would be no expectations of romance. He stated as much himself.

[She folds her arms, glancing away with grumpy discomfort.]

Raven and I are friends, nothing more. Even if he did 'like me' as you say, there is nothing to pursue. I have no interest in forming a romantic attachment with anyone.

I am not! He totally does! If he's given three opinions and that's what he chooses.

[She's known for jumping to conclusions.]

Ah, you're gonna break his heart and not even know it.

[Yuffie's just smiling.]

Maybe you guys like each other but don't know it yet!?

[Romance novels are like that.]

Or maybe he's a man and enjoys that sort of thing in general. The fact that it came from me has nothing to do with it.

[She replies with a flat stare. Rukia almost says he doesn't have a heart to break, but catches herself, and thinks better of it. That's likely a secret he doesn't want revealed. As for liking him, she shakes her head.]

No, I do not think that is the case. I know he is a friend, and that I trust him. His company is pleasant, but neither of us exhibit any signs of love. I apologize if this is disappointing for you.

[Why is her lack of love life so interesting to begin with? Because she doesn't want one?]

Had it not been a date, the options would not have existed at all. If he were in love with me, would he not press for these things outside of the date? What's more, there will be no follow up. It was merely something he wished to help me understand. He was my teacher.

You're no fun.

[Yuffie's excitement drains and she sits back down on the couch hugging the pillow again. Hearing about someone else's love life is far better than talking about her own. She peeks over at Rukia with a pout spread across her lips.]

I guess so... I don't really know him and you're the only one I know who does...sides, Yuri I guess.

Does he have any other friends?

[She's serious a her tone from before is gone replaced by worried curiosity.]

On the contrary, I'm quite fun. I'm just not a romantic.

[She smirks a little, relieved that the topic isn't being pursued any further. Honestly, Yuffie and Chappopo are cut from the same cloth. She starts to stretch her arms over her head, but pauses at the question.]

I'm certain he does.

[He and Zelda seem to get along, and she thinks he's probably friendly with Selen after the adventure they all shared.]

Raven is outgoing and approachable. I can't imagine someone like him would be lonely or friendless. Why do you ask?
