Yo!

First things first - I don't care what you guys see in those files about me, past, present or future. I don't linger on what I do and you shouldn't either!

Second of all, I'm looking for someone who might want to help me with a small thing. When we ended up in the past, I got a hold of a sword that claims that it was Excalibur, but there's no way it is. Heck, my Moogle suggests I should just donate it somewhere as a humongous letter opener.

Though, I honestly prefer using this for now. At least until I can find a way to get something better. That's where you guys come in! I'm looking for a way to make it just a little better. Anyone have any ideas on how to do so? Can't pay ya yet if it requires it, but I can deliver your mail if you need to as a replacement - got yourself a Mailhog ready to go and believe me, I could use the travelling!

By any chance, did you have an encounter with a rather large man claiming to be the owner of the weapon? I ran into him near a weapon vendor but he escaped and I was unable to pursue him.

Also, may I recommend MarKus, one of our fellow Heroes and an accomplished blacksmith. He might be able to do something with it.

Yes, that sounds like the man I encountered as well. He was even bold enough to accuse me of cheating when I employed my own hidden weapon.

So this sword you now possess. This would be the weapon that the merchant was trying to sell, correct? My own world has legends of Excalibur and it wouldn't be something one would find in an open market.

To the Hedgehog Sonic,

I, too, received such a sword. It is not meant for battle. Perhaps donate it to a local theatre troupe or let novices train with it, as it will not harm those it hits. If you go into battle wielding it, you would honestly do better with bare hands.

And if you hear any word of the Swordsman that was asking about that sword, kindly alert me. I have unfinished business with him.

Eh, just a flimsy sword I was swinging around during the invasion. I'm surprised it lasted that long. I'm not bothered by that, but if he took others, then those I'm more worried about!

When you're the fastest thing on two feet and can split up to cover more ground, things like that is easy! Ninja job, what a wonderful thing!

As for using a sword, sure am! I was stuck using one before I got dropped her.

It seems we have something in common, as that was the primary job I was given as well. I am pleased to know you are competent with a blade. Perhaps if you have some time, I would like to see this Excalibur you mentioned. I am vaguely aware of the legends on my world regarding the fabled sword, but there are certainly bound to be variables. However, as my intention can be attributed to little more than curiosity, a meeting is hardly a necessity.

[And, honestly, Sonic is busy just waiting for the letter to be sent before making his way to where she was, Excali~~poor~~bur in hand, reaching the door, knocking and waiting a bit more.]

[Rukia just prepared a fresh kettle of tea for her guest. When she hears the knock on the door, she opens it.]

[And comes face to face with a large blue hedgehog.]

[Blink.]

[He...looks a little like a large rabbit. She had no idea he would be so cute. But as he looks like the type who probably wouldn't appreciate being called cute, she politely restrains herself. And she doesn't pet his head, even though she kind of wants to.]

You must be Sonic.

[Now that she's recovered, her smile is welcoming, and she moves aside to let him in.]

Please come in. May I offer you some tea?

That's my name...! And you must be Rukia.

[Sonic's opinion on Rukia? Really can't say - if anything, since she's not actively doing anything bad, is "she's cool". At the questioning if he wanted some tea, he blinked before giving a little shrug]

Eh, sure. Would be rude to turn down an offer from a host.

[Rukia nods to confirm. She wouldn't have been offended if he refused the tea, but she appreciates his desire to be polite. Closing the door, she trots into the kitchen to pour two cups, then brings them to the table. He brought the sword, she sees.]

I'd like a closer look at this impostor blade. May I?

[She takes a seat, leaning forward onto her forearms.]

Sure! [With that, he lifts up the blade and hands it to Rukia, handle first. He then took the cup and took a sip.]

It looks nice, but it doesn't feel like it's a legendary blade.

[Rukia hefts the blade with practiced ease, lightly curling her fingers around the edge to test how keen the blade is. Then she tilts it forward, gazing down the length of the sword, and gives it a light swing with a flick of her wrist.]

Incredible...

[No really, she's in complete awe.]

I have never beheld a weapon so completely ornamental and useless in all my years.

Heh, isn't it? [He does cock an eyebrow at the "in all my years" comment.] Though, if you don't mind me asking... "in all my years"?

[She's currently inspecting the sword's hilt. It's so...so gaudy. Why would anyone forge something so disgustingly inept? Was this a child's art project? She looks up at Sonic's question. Ah, yes. She would prefer that certain people not call her 'kid.' ~~Particularly Raven.~~]

Huh... [Sonic blinked at that, but shrugged and let it go.] That explains things. Though, I'm guessing the sword is pretty useless, huh?

Unfortunately. You would do more damage with a chair. A good blade has the steel folded multiple times to strengthen its structure and prevent it from breaking. I think this one had tin poured into a mold.

[She's not sure what metal was used, as she's not that much of a sword expert. But she doubts this is any kind of quality steel.]

The balance is off, as the blade is too heavy for the handle. You may be able to sharpen it with the proper tools, but I would not waste your efforts. Perhaps you could think of it as a souvenir.

[Rukia hands it back.]

[Sonic chuckles a bit before he puts the sword aside.] Or maybe I'll take my Moogle's suggestion and use it as an oversized letter opener. Not like I'm going to hurt anyone with it!

Though, I have to wonder if that guy's still around trying to sell more of them...

Someone sold this to you?

[Rukia looks supremely offended. How dare a merchant try to rip someone off! ~~If she only knew she'd been suckered a couple of times already while buying groceries.]~~

How much did he charge you?

Woah, not me! Thankfully! This he gave me after I saved him from a swordsman named Gilgamesh. A few others here got one, too. As "thanks". But, he was certainly selling them, but that was 28 years ago...

[And he takes up a thoughtful pose.]

Sheesh, and if he survived that town's destruction, he probably scammed a LOT of people!

It's unscrupulous. Unforgivable.

[If he hasn't changed his ways after having his life saved, then Rukia is going to have words with this merchant. And headstomps. ...Mostly headstomps.]
