Letter to Selphie on 9/11 - MOGNET GLITCH SAYS YOU ALL GET ONE!

Dear Selphie,

You don't know me, as we haven't officially met face to face. But I had to write and tell you that your performance yesterday was fantastic! What a funny and inspiring story about the mighty adventures of the Chocoboman. I was actually hoping to write a more light-hearted song, and when I heard your tale, I knew that would make the perfect subject.

I'm working on the lyrics right now, but the melody is strong in my mind. Drop by the saloon some time when I'm working so you can hear it! And thank you again, it was a very entertaining story. Maybe you should consider being a bard yourself!

[Zell will find Selphie sitting outside at one of the small patio tables outside of Cuppa Kupo. There's a couple of teacups and matching pot with dainty floral pattern on the table in front of her as she sighed and let her shoulders droop in defeat.]

Oh boy... here we go again...

[loudestseed]

[When Zell shows up, he's frowning at her. But at least he's not Squall!glaring at her. That's kind of impossible for Zell to do. Besides, he's not sure exactly what happened and what was said.

He sits next to her and looks around to make sure no one could overhear them before he asks his question.]

Alright, so tell me what happened!

[boomchucka]

[Selphie laughs sheepishly for a long few moments before she looks in the opposite direction of Zell. She scratches her head to delay the inevitable admitting of her crime before she lets out a cleansing breath. Her hands are in loose fists however when she finally gives her single-worded answer.]

Chocoboman.

[loudestseed]

... Uh, yeah, I got that.

What was everything you said?

[boomchucka]

[Selphie recounts what she exclaimed to the neighbourhood.]

I didn't mention anything about the sidekick or the hunters or anything else, honest!

[loudestseed]

[Zell visibly relaxed, then winced in sympathy.]

How'd Squall take it?

[boomchucka]

[Selphie rubbed her left wrist a bit in response.]

He came out, grabbed me and shoved me inside his place and well...

[She reached for the teapot and one of the cups to pour herself a cup of peppermint tea. She liked the refreshing taste of it.]

We got a little mad at each other and then we had an honest conversation before chatting about the Calamity. I told him a bit about the Research Facility where this all began but... I guess that might've been in vain now...

[loudestseed]

[Zell didn't know what to say about her answer. Squall's reaction made sense to Zell. In fact, Zell would have probably gotten more worked up than he was sure Squall had.]

Wasn't it crystallized as we escaped?

[boomchucka]

[Selphie nodded, grateful for the change in subject.]

Yeah. I guess it's where the Calamity started from this time.

[loudestseed]

Did it start somewhere else before?

[boomchucka]

You know...

[Selphie shrugged her shoulders.]

That's a good question. I'd have to ask someone who's been around longer than a few months and is more familiar with the history of Crystallis.

Maybe Jade would know...

Think it's worth lookin' into?

[Of course Zell would look into it either way as he always liked knowing history.]

[boomchucka]

If we can learn more about what's been going on, why not? I mean... we really haven't been around all that long and it's starting to bug me that we know next to nothing.

Maybe I should've done my homework before everybody else showed up.

[Selphie's always been more of a go-with-the-flow type anyway.]

[The more Zell thought about it, the more he wanted to do it.]

Yeah! Maybe it'll help us figure out more about the Calamity and how to stop it!

[He smiled at Selphie's last statement, showing it didn't bother him.]

It's alright, that just means we gotta do it now! Besides, we can probably find out more stuff together than we would by ourselves!

[boomchucka]

Right! Besides, there's three of us here now and there's all sorts of people that we can ask for more information.

[Selphie's relieved that Zell isn't bothered by her lacksadaisical attitude before he and Squall arrived.]

There's nothing that the Orphanage Gang can't do when we put our heads to it!

[loudestseed]

Right!

[He agreed with Selphie's last statement, but also laughed a little, lightly. Said like that, he was reminded how strange it was that the group they ended up in (except Rinoa) all came from the same orphanage.]

Got any idea where to start other than talking to that guy? Or we can just talk to him and see if anything pops up about where to go and who to talk to next.

Well...

[Selphie leaned back and rested on the heels of her palms as she looked up at the sky. It was weird to think that this strange but beautiful world was coming to an end as she ultimately shrugged her shoulders.]

Let's start by asking Jade and then we can go from there. There's gotta be something at the laboratory and the library too.
