[She considered just leaving it at that, but as they don't know her all that well, they're unlikely to understand that gratitude from a homunculus is kind of a big deal. So she elaborates further.]

I am not accustomed to being treated kindly, and with so much sincerity. What you did was unnecessary, but not unappreciated.

Among alchemists, there is a law of equivalent exchange -- humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. I adhere to this law, despite my lack of humanity. Ask what favor you will of me, and I will see it done.

No one's complained about it. You have nothing to worry about, though I thank you for replacing it. Some very odd people took advantage of the open doorway and seemed to think it an open invitation to waltz inside and make odd declarations.

But surely there must be something you want, or would like to have. Do you truly intend to allow me to continue to be entirely self-serving? How shameful.

That's not entirely what I mean. I didn't assist you for the hope of getting something in return. I feel it was the least I could do for someone I care about. There isn't anything beyond that. Please do not feel the need to repay for anything.

[Though Lust isn't the type who needs to re-read the same words before she can dismiss her incredulity, she's nonetheless surprised by the easy way he tells her that he cares.]

[Lust tips her head back with a sigh, lowering the letter. She doesn't really understand why. Perhaps she never will. But by now, she knows it has far more to do with the kind of person Mikleo is than the creature she happens to be. Whatever happens to possess any grain of life, Mikleo cares about it. And the strangest thing is, despite what she might have previously believed, she knows that this isn't a weakness. If anything, it makes him strong. He has more drive and focus when trying to meet the needs of others.]

Surely there must be something you desire. I'm quite educated in matters of alchemy and combat.

I would like to know more about alchemy and combat in a general sense but I do not wish for you to feel obligated to teach me such things. If you wish to assist me in those ways, I am more than happy to accept, however I honestly do not feel that there is any reason for you to pay me back for what I feel is the right thing to do for a an ally and a friend.
