Backdated to end of May, sent to all Heroes
[The following letter is hand-copied by Levy and her moogle, Mogjeel, and sent directly to the other Heroes of Light. There's sensitive information inside, and she doesn't trust sending it through Mognet. She had to agree to go out on a date with Mogjeel to get him to agree to the extra work, but for once, that's a price she's willing to pay.]
Hello everyone,
This is Levy McGarden, leader of the Crystallis chapter of the Fairy Tail wizard guild. As some of you may know, I've spent a lot of time in Mysidia since the airships started traveling there, learning the art of enchanting magical items with the Blacksmith Job. I've been thinking lately about how to use this to fight back against Palitutu if she really does end up attacking us on the Calm Plains in August, and I think I've come up with something we can use.
One of the things I've learned how to do from my Elezen teachers is how to imbue crystals with the abilities of the Jobs available to us. Until now, I've only been practicing it using abilities from standard Jobs, but I think it may be possible to do the same thing with Advanced Jobs as long as I have the right people helping. In particular, I know there's a skill that Crystal Knights have that prevents Jobs from being disabled. Aside from the Ultima Weapon, that's Palitutu's biggest advantage over us right now.
I can't do this alone, though. What I'll need is volunteers. First, I'll need the cooperation of as many people as possible who have mastered the Blacksmith Job. Alchemists are even better. I'll show you the methods we'll be using, so don't worry about that. Second, I'll need Crystal Knights to provide the Job Resistance skill we'll be duplicating. And third, I'll need blank crystals - three to five for each person we're planning to protect this way, as we'll need to enchant an entire set of clothing or suit of armor to fully protect them.
We're not going to have enough time or resources to outfit all of the Heroes of Light like this, but if we get started now, we should be able to outfit enough of us to put up a fight if it comes down to it. I'll be working on this as often as I can between now and her August deadline, but obviously, the more help I get the better. If you're interested, send a reply back with Mogjeel - not through Mognet, as Palitutu is clearly still able to send letters through the system herself and may still have someone on the inside.
Regards,
Levy McGarden
Leader of Fairy Tail - Crystallis Chapter
((OOC Note: Reply here if you're interested in helping. This will be a rolling effort taking place between now and Palitutu's deadline, so don't sweat the specific timing of when your character will be able to participate too much. As long as Levy and at least one Crystal Knight are present with the necessary raw materials, she can work on this.))

My name is Captain Jack Harkness, I was the one that brought back the videotape that told everybody about this capability. The jobs that make up Crystal Knight were the first things that I mastered, so I would be glad to assist.
For the crystals what you need, would any sort of elemental crystals work? Especially with the Crystal Knight job, it's actually very easy to harvest Light Crystals off of the white elementals up north.
Consider me at your disposal for whatever you need.

Thanks for your help. As for the crystals, unfortunately elemental crystals aren't what we need. Blank crystals are pure crystals that don't already have any kind of magical resonance.

I've put a request in to obtain the Dark Knight Job for Crystal Knight, but it'll take some time before I can get it due to the slightly ridiculous request for it.
But I'll lend a hoof, if you need a test subject for it.

Well, let me know. I'll be working on this for the next few months, so even if you don't get the Job right away, you can still help.
-Levy

All right, I'll make sure to get everything worked out. Thanks, I'll keep in touch.

I can afford to switch back to Alchemist for this purpose; the need to defeat Palitutu warrants that. However, I've been tasked by Cid to explore the Mythril Caves in search for mythril and crystals. I'll keep an eye out for anything of use to this project.

Great, that'll be a big help. If you can bring back as many blanks as you can find, we can use them for this. Let me know what you come up with.
-Levy

You know I'm good for Alchemist. Count me in for whatever you need. I'll get to work as soon as I can.

Thanks. I'll let you know when I'm ready to get started.

I've requested to acquire the Dark Knight job, but it may take awhile - Cid wants me to hunt down something that may aid us in our fight. I'll gladly help you when I do obtain it, though.
-Tsubomi
P.S.: I think your Moogle side-eyed me.
no subject
Great! Just let me know when you're ready.
-Levy
P.S. - Yeah, about that... he made me agree to a date to hand-copy all of those letters.

I have intended to consider starting on the Dark Knight job for a while in order to gain access to that very particular advantage, so it interests me greatly that there might be a way around without having to invest too heavily in learning a whole new discipline first.
I'd like to offer my assistance, perhaps in collecting the blank crystals that are required. Do you have any guidance with regards to how we might obtain the necessary quantity of them?
Yours,
Sephiroth

That's great, we can definitely use the help. Blank crystals are crystals in their purest form, so they can probably be found wherever they form naturally.
Failing that... maybe you can see if the military has any in their stores that we could use? It's definitely for a good cause, after all.
-Levy

Roger that. I'll see what I can find from my end.

Thanks. Let me know what you find out. I think you'd be a good candidate to get one of the protective suits of armor anyway, since you've been here for a while.

[About a week later, via Spencer directly to Levy]
You may or may not know, the Mysidian Tower now falls under Esdham jurisdiction. In that there are boots on the ground there with a view to keeping it secure. After all, it is one of those so-slight advantages we have in our arsenal against the Calamity, currently.
I've recently returned from a rotation over there and can confirm, that there does seem to have been a few containers worth of blank crystals logged as taken into inventory some time ago. Might I suggest, that you come and see for yourself, in case they are not suitable, before measures might be taken to requisition them for our cause?
Yours,
~Sephiroth

That's great news! I'll check them out the next time I'm in the area, but that's probably what we need. Thanks for all your help.

I have both jobs mastered. And I suppose it will be nice to have a use for them. You can count on my help.
-Alice

Great! I was hoping you'd help. I'll be in touch when I have everything ready.
-Levy

Glad I can help. Don't work too hard, okay? We should get together for tea sometime.
-Alice

I'd like that. I'll stop by your house sometime.

Conveniently enough, I've just mastered Blacksmith and by extension Alchemist. That, and my current research in Advanced Custom Jobs has been giving me more insight in how Advanced Jobs work. If you need anyone to bounce ideas off of, I'm at your disposal.
Regarding the blank crystals... Do you recall the floors in the Mysidian Tower dedicated to crystal research? If most of the equipment survived, perhaps some of their resources did as well. There might be blank crystals left in the storage rooms.

We should meet some time to discuss theory. I've had a lot of practice, but it never hurts to get another perspective on things. It's probably worth a trip back to the tower to see if there are any crystals there, too. It'll save us a lot of work gathering them ourselves if there are.

Sounds good. I should be able to do this in Aqures Ixen instead of hauling everyone to Mysidia, as long as I can borrow the facilities from someone.

I would be glad to volunteer my services, as I do happen to have access to the Crystal Knight advanced job. I would need to pick up an experience orb, as I will be unable to change back until the end of the month most likely. Where are you? If you're currently stationed in Mysidia, it might be some time before I'm able to meet with you, but I'm willing to do so at the earliest opportunity.
It's a pity that it must come down to a fight at all, but I will be present at the meeting. Thank you for helping us to prepare.
Sincerely,
Chrom

I'm in Mysidia now, but I'll be coming back to Aqures Ixen soon. We can meet up to talk then if you want. Your part in this won't be that complicated anyway, so don't worry about that part.
-Levy

We have not spoken before but I am able to help your cause. My first Jobs were Paladin and Dark Knight, therefore having the Crystal Knight at my disposal. It is at maximum and if you need any assistance, please let me know.
Sincerely,

Just Levy is fine! And thanks for your help. The more people we have working on this, the better.

I recently finished working on Dark Knight so I should have Crystal Knight at full power now. Whatever I can do to help, I want to do it. If Palitutu thinks she'll just be able to make us cower when she comes to see us then she's going to be in for a surprise. At least, I have no plans to lay down and die for her.
Also I don't know how much he can help, but Mako has a bit of a hobby researching Crystals too. Maybe he can lend a paw too.
-Cloud
no subject
Yeah, that's exactly my thoughts on the matter. I'm not going to let her scare me into backing down. That's not how Fairy Tail does things. If this plan can work, we might have a shot at beating her once and for all.
-Levy
no subject
Then like I said, you can count on me. No matter what happens I'd rather than we took a stand against her rather than let her jerk us around like puppets any longer. We're not her toys.
I'm also seeing about getting the Beastmaster job. Even if I don't have it mastered by the time she shows up I'll still have nine other jobs to work with. And I have some ideas.
no subject
Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at. I'm not much of a fighter, but this is something I can do, so hopefully it helps. I just wish we had more time so we could set everybody up with this kind of protection.
-Levy
no subject
I don't know if we'll ever have all the time and information we want. At least we all have each other. And I don't plan to let THAT change as easy as some claim it can either.
For now the best we can do is our best and count on everyone else to do their part too.
-Cloud
no subject
I definitely think we can count on that. If there's one thing all the Heroes agree on at this point, it's that we're sick and tired of Palitutu.

I have been searching for more Blacksmiths as well. I have advanced the job to its limit. If we can imbue the crystals with job skills, not just elements, that opens up many more possibilities. I think you are right -- we need this advantage against Palitutu.
I have taken over MarKus' shop since his crystallization. I believe were he still here, he would offer his services as well. The workspace, here and in the Village of Santa Claus, is at your disposal.

Great, glad to hear it. Max level Blacksmith is all that's needed for this plan to work, so if you can help, I can definitely use it. Having access to the workspace is a big help too - how many people do you think can reasonably fit at once and still have room to work?
-Levy
no subject
The Village of Santa Claus has only a small workshop, perhaps accommodating only two blacksmiths at the most. Haley's Anvil was built bigger. We can probably have a good three working on something there, and there is room for the alchemists. With enough gil, we could expand either site.
- Albel

Well, we'll work with what we've got. It should be fine if everyone works in shifts.
